Sacrilegious Discourse - Bible Study for Atheists

De: Husband & Wife
  • Resumen

  • Husband and Wife are two non-believers who have always wanted to read the Bible. Why would we subject ourselves to this you might ask? From our perspective it helps us understand where the Christians around us, here in the Midwest, are coming from when they quote the Bible at us. Husband is basically an Atheist and wife leans Agnostic but mostly Atheist and we’re just having some fun at the Bible’s expense while learning more about what our neighbors claim we’re going to hell over.

  • Ezekiel Chapter 47: Bible Study by Atheists
    Jul 16 2024

Brace yourselves, heathens! In this episode of Sacrilegious Discourse, we wade through the murky waters of Ezekiel Chapter 47. We start with a quick recap of Chapter 46, where God was busy plotting entrance and exit strategies for the temple, and priests were donning their special eating clothes to dine away from the common folk. Yes, you heard that right, special eating clothes.

We laugh our way through the absurdity of these rituals, imagining priests with bibs and designated shirts for eating, dishwashing, and even pooping. We even challenge our listeners to share their own "eating clothes" on social media, but please, no nudes!

In Chapter 47, we encounter the mysterious Cyberman (or Golden Man, if you prefer) who leads Ezekiel through a progressively deeper river, from ankle-deep to a raging torrent no one can cross. We discuss the bizarre logistics of this divine waterway and ponder its significance. Is it a metaphor? A literal flood? Who knows!

As we delve deeper, we find ourselves in a new Eden with trees that bear fruit every month and have leaves for healing. But wait, there's more! God redivides the land among the twelve tribes of Israel, including the Levites who finally get their own plot. Foreigners residing among the Israelites are also granted land, marking a surprising shift in policy.

Join us for this wild ride through Ezekiel's watery visions, divine land grants, and our usual irreverent banter. We promise it's more entertaining than a train wreck and you won't want to miss it!

  • Ezekiel Chapter 46: Bible Study by Atheists
    Jul 15 2024

Hold onto your sacrificial lambs, folks! This episode of Sacrilegious Discourse dives headfirst into Ezekiel Chapter 46, where we continue to wade through the labyrinth of temple ordinances, divine rituals, and more than a few questionable directives.

We kick things off with a quick recap of Ezekiel Chapter 45, where God was busy divvying up land between the Zadokites, Levites, and kings like a celestial real estate agent. Then, we give a heartfelt shout-out to our new patron, Hope H., who thinks our banter is spot-on and relatable. Thanks, Hope!

In this chapter, we explore the Sabbath rituals, where the prince enters through the portico and sacrifices six male lambs and a ram. We question why these sacrifices are happening at the gate instead of the temple and ponder the logistics of ancient animal husbandry. We also dive into the grain offerings, oil measures, and the traffic flow at the temple gates—because even in ancient times, managing foot traffic was a thing.

Ezekiel's vision gets a little wacky as we discuss the sacred rooms, kitchen courts, and the culinary duties of the priests. We even take a detour into modern-day food courts and the joys of free samples.

Join us as we dissect Ezekiel's divine directives, question the practicality of ancient rituals, and laugh at how this all feels like a bizarre blend of Leviticus and a cosmic cooking show.

  • Bible Study by Atheists Weekly: Ezekiel Chapters 41 - 45 plus Q&A
    Jul 15 2024
Ezekiel Chapters 41-45: Bible Study by Atheists (Weekly Wrap-Up)

Holy moly, have we got a biblical smorgasbord for you this week! We've crammed all the juicy bits from Ezekiel Chapters 41-45 into one unholy episode.

First, we tackled God's architectural ambitions in Ezekiel Chapter 41: Bible Study by Atheists, questioning whether the divine blueprints for the temple were measured in cubits or rods (spoiler alert: it's probably cubits, unless you believe in a holy McMansion).

Then, in Ezekiel Chapter 42: Bible Study by Atheists, we delved deeper into the temple's labyrinthine layout, complete with confusing measurements and questionable zoning laws.

Moving on to Ezekiel Chapter 43: Bible Study by Atheists, we witnessed the glorious return of God (in a cloud, no less) and debated the identity of the mysterious "Golden Man" (who may or may not be Jesus's interior decorator).

In Ezekiel Chapter 44: Bible Study by Atheists, we explored God's gatekeeping tendencies and the rise of the Zadokite priests, the new fashion icons of the ancient world.

Finally, in Ezekiel Chapter 45: Bible Study by Atheists, we uncovered a divine real estate scheme that would make even the most seasoned televangelist blush. We also questioned the meaning of salt in ancient rituals and wondered if Ezekiel's prophecies were more about politics than spirituality.

Join us for this unholy roller coaster ride through Ezekiel's wacky world, where we dissect the divine drama, question the credibility of prophecy, and uncover the hidden agendas behind religious dogma.

5 star couple reading a 0 star book

This couple is great! Makes the task of reading this terrible book less daunting. Have to know it because people are trying to make laws and rules with this book as the backbone, and i would like to know where these "Christians" are coming from. There is a beautiful chemistry between these two, and I wish them the best!

Too f🤬ing hilarious

This couple are definitely "top shelf". They're what a beautiful marriage should be like, funny and forgiving (Husband is a great patient man 🤣😂). Great delivery and making this boring a$$ book bearable. Keep it up.
