• SheVOLVE Episode 4 - Say Yes to YOU!

    In our last episode, we talked about being more mindful about the negative words we say to others and ourselves. While we both "fell off the wagon" a little bit in our intentionality on this practice, today we discuss a bit about how every day is ripe with opportunities for us to look at the way we think about and react to the situations and encounter. In regards to saying yes to ourselves, whether in doing new things or just doing the things we want through, we often put off or fail to do the things we really want to by getting in our own way through negative self talk or other excuses. If this sounds like you, you may want to consider asking yourself a few questions when you get into an internal tug-of-war:
    • What are the good things that can come from doing this activity?
    • How am I going to feel about myself tomorrow if I do this activity?
    • What about if I don't do it?
    • Is there a way I can do this activity and overcome or accommodate the factors I'm concerned about?
    Our goal is to say YES to ourselves more often while working to understand and grow through the things that previously held us back. Podcast Resources

  • SheVOLVE Episode 3 - Cut Out Complaining

    When you let go of electronic and mental distractions like we've talked about doing in the last two episodes, the idea is to make room for good things, right? Or at least things that are more rewarding than "doom-scrolling" and other less than mindful activities. But what do we do when what we notice with our newfound head-space is negative comments and complaints? And what if they aren't just about other things and people, but also ourselves? This week we're talking about some of our explorations since the last episode. (Gael tried some big new things including an awesome hike and using her new camper; I talk about some of my experiences with trying some new kinds of meditation and giving up alcohol for 31 days). Interestingly, when we change and try new things, it can trigger unexpected reactions in ourselves AND the others in our life. Some of this could include some negative comments from ourselves and others. So for us, it seems like a natural next "superpower" to explore is to cut out complaining. One thing we both think it is important to remember is that speaking up for yourself or providing necessary feedback is not the same as complaining! Resources and links for things we talked about:

  • SheVOLVE Episode 2: Making Mental Space

    In our last episode, we talked about giving up social media and electronics was easier for both of us than expected. We realized that we have been connected to it for different reasons and approached detaching from it in different ways. Letting go of it a little more than normal was a welcome relief for us both and we really enjoyed the space it gave us in our lives. Setting aside the electronics allowed us to prioritize, invest in, and say yes to ourselves more.

    Welcome to the official SheVOLVE Prequel. In case you hadn't heard, From the Heart with Felicia & Gael is now SheVOLVE! Starting with this episode, our podcast is geared towards helping you discover and embrace your hidden superpowers! Why? Well with two milestone birthdays this year (Felicia - 55/Gael - 50) we are ready to do less, “be" more, and “she-volve” into their best selves ever. We know we aren't alone and want to take you along for the ride. Today we talk about why we decided to make this change and share details on our new weekly format and blog. Each week we will reveal a new challenge to uncover and explore our hidden super powers. Our first challenge is Creating Space By Disconnecting.     How do you know when it's time to make a change? Sometimes life brings unexpected events which signal the need for one change or another in an instant. This could be something like a tire blowing out prompting you to get a new one. Or you get an exciting job offer and you realize you'll need to give notice at your current job to accept it. There's also the need for change that is not subtle, that slowly reveals itself to you through momentary thoughts and feelings that arise. You aren't exactly sure where these nudges are taking you, but you pay attention all the same until the path slowly reveals itself. The latter is what we both felt with this podcast, and so after a year, we are both proud of what we've done and excited to move in a new direction with the podcast. In this final episode, we talk about change and what we appreciate about From the Heart. Coming up on June 21st, we will share details and reveal more about our new name, focus and evolving format.     Ever feel like you are trying EVERYTHING you know how to do to get your business rolling and getting nowhere? You're making the calls, following up on the leads, but it feels like nothing is happening. We have both been there, "beating the bushes" and taking constant action to find clients and revenue. Though it can take a while, "doing stuff" is helpful and does create momentum. However, it often seems like the most effective actions - the ones that move us forward faster - are the ones we feel excited and inspired to do. Inspired or not, taking regular action will help you gain experience, information, and feedback.
