    As a certified Health and Nutrition Coach and published author, Trisha is dedicated to assisting individuals in improving their connections with food, their bodies, and themselves. By fostering compassionate curiosity and advocating an anti-diet philosophy, she creates a safe environment for clients to shift their anxieties concerning food, fitness, and other healthy practices towards inner peace.

    Trisha is currently working on her second book titled "Already Good: How Religion and Diet Culture Exploit Our Human Quest for Meaning and Belonging."

    Having spent 20 years in Evangelical Ministry and as a Pastor’s Wife, she left the Church a decade ago and has since been gradually shedding most of the beliefs she once espoused and taught.
    Trisha is co-founder of The Aftermath Agency-- a collaborative private practice centering whole health care in Edmonds, WA. She lives with her husband, Mike and 4 young adult children.

    DIVORCED: Unification Church (the Moonies)

    Teddy Hose is an artist, writer, and public figure on the topic of cults, after growing up in the Unification Church, or “Moonies,” of the late Sun Myung Moon.

    He has appeared on Netflix’s Explained: Cults episode and How to Become a Cult Leader, as well as A&E’s Cults and Extreme Belief, which featured the cult’s splinter group (Rod of Iron Ministries) who worship with AR-15s.

    With Teddy’s parents being early, respected members of the Unification Church, his family lived close to the Moon family estate in Tarrytown, NY.

    Teddy often highlights how the Moons pay far right political figures like the Trumps to participate in their events; and the cult’s founding of The Washington Times, which is also behind OAN, or One America News network.

    Teddy now lives in Brooklyn where he works in video and motion graphics, while making informative social media videos about cults, in addition to his own multimedia art.

    My guest today is author Tia Levings, who describes herself as “an author exploring anti-fundamentalism after church-sanctioned domestic abuse in high-control religion.” Tia appeared in Shiny Happy People on Amazon Prime, and her memoir, A Well-Trained Wife: My Escape from Christian Patriarchy, is coming out with St. Martin’s Press in 2024.

    In our conversation today, Tia and I discuss various aspects of Christian fundamentalism and how it negatively impacts women, especially.

    Tia Levings writes about the realities in Christian fundamentalism, evangelical patriarchy, and religious trauma. She is also a podcaster, speaker, and content strategist. She’s been quoted in Salon, the Huffington Post, and Newsweek, and appeared in the hit Amazon docu-series, Shiny Happy People.     In 2022, Harper-Collins published Anke’s important and bestselling book called CULT TRIP: Inside the World of Coercion and Control. According to Anke’s website: She spent over 10 years investigating how and why cults seduce, entrap, and destroy otherwise ordinary people, asking what the line is between tribe and cult; participant and perpetrator; seduction and sexual abuse.

    In addition to being a journalist and bestselling author, Anke is a member and co-founder of F.A.C.T. Aotearoa, which stands for Fight Against Conspiracy Theories.

    Anke is also the convenor and director of DECULT, the first cult awareness conference in New Zealand (see link below).
