    Jun 26 2024

Do you wish you could optimize and scale your podcast processes so that when you're looking at your show, you actually feel excited to hit record, publish, and talk to your guests, rather than feeling overwhelmed? As podcast hosts, we have so much to think about, and sometimes, we don't have the time to think strategically about our show, and determine which actions will drive us forward or hold us back.

In this podcast episode, I'm thrilled to recount my experience working with my Podcast Power Hour Retainer client Fanny Dunagan, a LinkedIn content strategist for people in tech through her company, Pathlinks. Even though Fanny is an experienced content creator, her struggles and successes are shared by less experienced podcasters so if you’re still in the early months of your podcast journey, take a listen.

  • 75. How to create a podcast that is relevant all year long + 1 secret strategy
    Jun 19 2024

What will help you move the needle on your podcast in the most effective way? How can you create a podcast that stays relevant, helps you achieve your goals, and serves your audience? This episode will dive into exactly that.

    Embrace Imperfection and Consistency

When you're creating a podcast, remember that conditions don’t need to be perfect to create value. Consistency is key. Your listeners value reliability; they appreciate knowing when to expect new episodes and what kind of value they will get. Focus on the content and its value to your audience over perfect conditions or settings. This thought process will help keep your podcast relevant and build a loyal audience.

  • 74. Podcast Audiences' Listening Habits Revealed: Insights to better grow your show
    Jun 12 2024

Podcasts are more popular than ever, transcending generations, countries, races, and backgrounds. So you might be wondering, "Okay, people are listening, but where and when are they tuning in? And how can I optimize my podcast for growth?"

That's exactly what we'll dive into today. I'm Ana Xavier, a podcast marketing expert, here to break down actionable insights you can apply to your show and understand your audience better.

    Evaluating Audience Listening Habits

If you’re listening to this in real time, it's June, and summer is knocking on the door. You might be asking, "Should I release new episodes or take a break to optimize my processes and learn more about my audience?" The answer hinges on understanding where your listeners are and how to keep them engaged.

In this episode, I delve into two reports: the Podcast Consumer Report by Edison Research (released in May 2024) and the 2023 Podcast Edition of the Fan Study by Spotify for Podcasters.

    Audience Behavior Across the Year

Research indicates that podcast consumption is influenced by specific times of the year. Key periods for gaining new listeners include January, March, July, and October. These months coincide with specific life events and seasonal changes, making them prime times for listener engagement.

Research also advises against releasing new shows in November due to the busy holiday season, which can make acquiring new listeners more challenging.

Are offline events the secret to growing your influence in podcast downloads? In short, yes. But in this episode I’ll be breaking down specifically, how I consistently get a 10 to 25% download increase weeks after these events take place. Ready to dive in? Press play!

How to optimize your profiles before events:

    https://www.instagram.com/reel/C41a-r6ptig/

How to Prep for an Event

Optimizing your presence before the event is key to getting those download numbers. Here are some steps:

    1. **Profile Setup**: If the event has an app, upload a professional and recognizable photo. Fill out the description with keywords and relevant information to make you easier to find.

    2. **Links**: Include links to your social media, website, and podcast.

    3. **Engage Early**: Engage with others on the event's app or platform. Reach out to attendees and set meeting times.

    4. **Use Hashtags**: Promote your presence with the event’s hashtag. This can boost your visibility on social media.

    5. **Business Cards**: Collect business cards or take screenshots. Follow up after the event to solidify connections.

    6. **Merch and Outfits**: Take branded swag like stickers, books, or merch. Wear something recognizable—like branding colors or themed accessories—to make a lasting impression.

  • 71. How podcasts can turn hosts into agents of change for themselves and their communities
    May 22 2024

Have you ever wondered if by creating podcast episodes you're adding to the internet noise... or perhaps you're lacking motivation because you're not having the ripple effects you were expecting with your content?

Let me share that podcasts can become effective tools for change during times of personal, social, and political unrest. So in this episode of The Podcast Space, I invited Yesenia Bocanegra, host of the Focus and Bloom podcast to dive into the concept of fostering community through podcasts and the ripple effects of even the smallest actions.

Yesenia shares her personal journey of overcoming limiting beliefs and the power of authenticity in content creation. The conversation also touches on the importance of encouragement and support among creators, especially women. The biggest takeaway of this episode is perhaps the significance of pursuing one's (podcast) passion and the unexpected positive impact it can have on others.
