Thinkers everywhere are conscious of two things, first, that the region of mystery has never before been so clearly defined, and secondly, that that region can be entered more easily than has hitherto been the case; it may, therefore, perhaps be induced to render up some of its secrets if investigators of all schools pursue their search with determination.

This, the third of Hartmann's books, and the first with a fictional setting, begins with a journey in the Alps. The narrator meets a mysterious dwarf. Show by your lives that religion does not mean words, or names, or sects, but that it means spiritual realization."

The soul must be eternal. Why? In the first place we see that the soul is not matter. It is neither a gross body, nor a fine body, which we call mind or thought. It is neither a physical body, nor what in Christianity is called a spiritual body. It is the gross body and the spiritual body that are liable to change. The gross body is liable to change almost every minute and dies, but the spiritual body endures through long periods, until one becomes free, when it also falls away.

Colonel Henry Steel Olcott (1832-1907) was the first Western Buddhist convert, probably since antiquity. He cofounded the Theosophical Society and was its first president. The only contributor to the 19th century southern Buddhist revival who was born a Protestant, Olcott was able to promote Eastern ideas to Western society.

First published in 1910, this short book sets out the way you can become rich, using things like visualization, belief, and the law of attraction. If you believe in this stuff (and I personally do), then this is a good little book to reaffirm those beliefs.
