Unweit des schönen Bades Brückenau erhebt sich ein Berg, der Dreistelz geheißen; jetzt liegt auf ihm ein Hof, der Dreistelzhof, vordem aber stand darauf ein prächtiges Schloss, und zwar an der Höhe nach Brückenau zu. In diesem Schloss wohnten drei stolze Damen und man sagt, dass man diese Fräulein nur „die drei Stolzen“ genannt habe, wegen ihrer absonderlichen Schönheit als auch wegen ihrer großen Pracht; und ihr Haus hieß man das Dreistolzenschloss, woraus später Dreistelz geworden ist.

Kaum war die Sonne gesunken, die noch ihre letzten goldenen Strahlen auf den hohen nachbarlichen Berg warf, so fachten die Knaben nach ihrer Weise ein Feuer an, und stachen Rasen ab, um sich eine Bank zu bauen, auf welcher sie vertraulich und sich am Feuer wärmend sitzen wollten.

Als die Kirche zu Dittis erbaut wurde, ging allerlei Komisches dabei vor. Die Kirche war zwar erbaut, aber die Fenster waren vergessen, und so kam es, dass vor Dunkelheit niemand darin sehen konnte. Lange wurde hin und her beraten, wie es wohl anzufangen sei, den Tag in die Kirche zu bringen, und endlich, nach vielen Debatten über Für und Wider, wurde von dem weisen Ortsvorstand beschlossen, einen Eilboten nach Fulda zu schicken, dass dieser dort dem löblichen Magistrat die Verlegenheit der guten Dittisser vortrage oder schriftlich überreiche und bitte, ihm den Tag für die Kirche mitzugeben.
