Publisher's summary

The taboo turns me on.

The dirty. The filthy. The nasty.

The man your mother f--king warned you about - is me.

Hold onto your panties, ladies.

Lucas Carter is here to show you the dark side of the sheets.

Warning: This is a dark romance erotica - meaning lots of violence, sex, and emotionally disturbing inner dialogue. The main character does not, however, kidnap or force himself on women. The entire book is told in his point of view. This story does contain murder, tough choices, and strange sex.

This book is entirely fictional, and the sexual techniques described within can be extremely dangerous. Listen to Lucas' story to spice up your sex life, have a little fun, and watch a man consumed by darkness grow into a different person. Please don't take any of the acts described within as instructional and always remember, safety first.

Dark and different

A dark and gritty romance which had me guessing the whole time. I had no idea where the story was leading and Lucas was truly a disturbingly dark and complicated man.

Jason Clarke did a splendid job narrating this enchanting story to make it lively and addicting.

Well written story with plenty of twist

First thing first: wow! This story delivered and some. I found it to be a bit soft core in regards to the sex scenes, but nonetheless it'll till get you feeling the moment. Very real characters enhance the flavor of the story and makes you almost understand why they did what they did.

An amazing story that pulled emotion out of me!

Oh my gosh, Lucas was so complex, all of these characters were, but he was equally frustrating. He did the opposite of what I wanted him to do so many times that the helplessness he talks about so much even started to set in. Listening to a story this entrenched in heavy, deep emotions, they sink into your brain and infect you. Erotic? Yes very much so at many points, but don't get it wrong, this is a story and the story drives the characters through and through. It's not sex with a loose story around it, it's the opposite. It's about how Lucas changes, becomes someone different between two women that represent light and dark but both heal him in different ways. I honestly liked Aubra much more than Robbie since the naivety she exhibits time and time again just irked me and I guess maybe because I came to realize that I identify with Aubra's pain and darkness more than I'd like to admit. I felt both Lucas's and Aubra's pain, and Lucas was right that like recognizes like. While I have never murdered someone, I have felt that loss that changes you irrevocably and I'll warn you if your wounds are close to the surface that this may be a book to out in the shelf for another day because of the emotions it will evoke, namely frustration, a little sadness, and a lot of hope for these characters. The narration was excellent, I loved it. I knew things weren't exactly going to end how I wanted them to, wondering if Robbie ever really knew what she was getting herself into. I could identify with her as well, as a woman that was once an 18 year old myself thinking I could take on and heal the world, a 19 year old that tried to fix a man 10 years my senior as well. Maybe because Lucas wants to change, he has hope. Maybe his character was different, but his pain was bone-deep, in his marrow, something that doesn't just wash away. That with Lucas's interests in the bedroom, I just didn't think it realistic honestly. That being said, I can't help but love this book anyway and the hopeless romantic in me wanted to see the best in these people. So you can see now that my little story and maybe yours too weaves itself into the story you're listening to, dredges up things you have to be able to face yourself even though it's just s book, just s fictional story. Fiction is a mirror of reality with a little bit of the far-fetched sprinkled in, and this book was a masterful example of that. This book is truly art. It's absolutely lovely.

I REALLY LOVED AND ENJOYED THE DARKNESS

I am thankful that the one I believe review that I noticed that claimed it was garbage was wrong because of their personal comfort regarding the subject or some other things that I won't get into . What I will is say that it shows darkness and light and wasn't as bad as I thought it might be not even close after the titles I listened to once or twice I can definitely tell you it's not even close to the worst of the worst . If that was the case their first would not be a sliver of light in this book much less an immense amount. So before you leave a review just take the time to fully listen to the entire book and if you can't finish it my opinion is it's unfair to judge the entire book because others go by these reviews and have immense influence on whether or not someone may or may not even try the title. Last if you read a book a find yourself not liking it solely or mainly because of your personal feelings twards the subject matter then that too is unfair in my opinion and I hope you would refrain from leaving feedback at all. If the book is terrible because of other reasons like written terribly and other regular reasonable things than please please I respect feedback from everyone but if not no feedback is in my opinion better for the future possible buyers to make a better decision than to write it off when they may have truly enjoyed or even lived the book. That being enjoyed the audiobook and the performance of the narrator as well.

Jason Clarke was the best part

This was my first time reading this author. I like dark romance, so I gave it a go. Not to mention Jason Clarke as narrator is an instant like for me! The story was indeed dark, sex of the taboo nature, so not for those who are sensitive to that sort of thing. I liked the MC, even though he was a murderer with questionable mental health. You felt his pain and understood how he turned into the person he was. I felt though that the book could of been shorter with all that happened. A lot of repetitive inner reflection that could of been lessened. Even with that though, I still really enjoyed it, more chances to hear Jason!

Dexter but make it sexy

This erotica was really like a sexy version of the show Dexter. Main male character had that same meticulous ability to mask. I wish the main female characters were slightly more developed, but given the fact that it’s told in the man’s POV and he’s got a lot of damage I tried to accept that he maybe wouldn’t have that much development on his radar.

Jason Clarke was a great choice for narration. He portrayed this dark taboo man with OCD beautifully and you even got to hear some hints of his transformation in the performance with the happy ending.

Blew me away

Fantastic! I don’t know what to say about this book. Not what I was expecting, but much better than anything I expected. I try not to give out spoilers, but I can understand this guy, and especially the demon he carrys inside. Sometimes stirring, sometimes screaming, sometimes throwing itself against the cage to be let free. I hope this isn’t. Standalone, there so much here that can be told! Please CM follow up on this one!

What Happened to the story!

It started out great, but by chapter 5 the main character turns trying to find a better word than stupid, unbelievable, inconsistent. He starts out Alpha ends up Beta version. He loses contol of his life and every relationship he has. OMG don't know if I can finish.

Oh. My. God.

It took about ten seconds of hearing Jason Clarke's sultry voice to know that even if the story itself was total shit, it wouldn't stop me from listening to it. The man could literally melt your panties off with a single sentence.

That being said, his performance (the perfection of which words can almost not describe) merely enhanced what was already an exceptionally well written character. There is something so raw, so visceral, about Lucas Carter that instantly captivated me. I think I fell in love with him a little, demon and all.

I originally borrowed this title as part of the Audible Romance Package, but less than halfway through used a full credit because I knew I would listen to it over. And over. And over. That in itself says a lot because out of the 500+ audiobooks in my library, I have never listened to one twice.
