Acerca de esta escucha

Running has become more and more popular in recent years, with thousands of people entering marathons, buying new running shoes with the latest technology, and going for a daily jog, whether on the track or on a treadmill. Unfortunately, with running comes injuries, as a result of wrong information and improper training.

Author Jay Dicharry was tired of getting the same treatments from doctors that didn't heal his joint and muscle pain from running, so he decided to combine different fields of clinical care, biomechanical analysis, and coaching to help you avoid common injuries and become the best runner you can be.

Along with clear and thorough explanations of how running influences the body and how the body influences your running, this audiobook answers many of the common questions athletes have: Do runners need to stretch? What is the best way to run? What causes injuries? Which shoes are best for running? Is running barefoot beneficial?

The mobility and stability tests will assess your form, and the corrective exercises will improve your core and overall performance so you can train and run with confidence, knowing how to avoid injuries!

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Science can be interesting after all

I like how the author is able to explain how the science behind human anatomy is relevant to running performance and recovery. I also appreciate how he explains what causes injuries and how to prevent them. One really important takeaway I got from this book is being mindful of how controlled my stability and mobility is because that directly impacts my running performance.

Don't Wait for Injury to Read/Listen

Great explanation on what a runners body goes through and how bad habits, form, posture, muscle weakness, etc. can lead to chronic injury. As a long term runner, I have fallen into the habit of just running. Over the years, this has lead to repetitive injury. I recently realized...my body is weak; even my legs, which I would have thought would be very strong. This book just sort of confirmed what I was already suspecting. It's is imperative to include heavy weight training for so many reasons, other than injury prevention in running. I have always found running "natural"...something I enjoyed on many levels. I have always found weight training something I hated. Mostly because it doesn't come naturally for me. So I didn't do it. This has to change. This book provides several well illustrated and explained examples of exercises and tests, foam rolling, stretches. Lots of valuable information. I would say that I wish I would have read it years ago, but honestly, without the chronic injuries, I wouldn't have taken the advise seriously.
Be sure to download and print the 125 page pdf that accompanies this book. It contains valuable information, examples and illustrations.

Helped me overcome pain and improve my form

I loved this book so much I need to purchase a hard copy of it to keep in my workout area at home. It is informational yet approachable to a wide audience. I am grateful for the tests and exercises in the bonus pdf. If you're injured from running currently, deal with chronic running injuries, or even if you have no issues, you need to listen/read this book - several times :)
