Acerca de esta escucha

As the dead prey on the living…

The end of the world has come not with a bang or a whimper, but with the guttural snarl of walking corpses hungry for human flesh. The "lucky" survivors flee an unstoppable virus spreading death and societal collapse across the globe.

The living prey on one another….

As the rules of civilization crumble, a lawyer, a pilot, and a nurse become comrades-in-arms in the fight against extinction. But not every enemy wears a rotting face, and anyone who doesn’t have your back just might have your head. Humankind’s twilight is at hand, and these are indeed...dark days.

Long Live Lucullus!

I don't understand some of the harsh negative reviews of part 2, from readers of part 1. It felt to me like a fitting continuation of part 1, and nearly as enjoyable. I think the whole trilogy will probably fit better read as a whole. This is really just the middle portion of a book. So it doesn't feel complete in itself.

And I really hope the negative reviews don't stop them bothering releasing part 3 in English...

I do admit, it wasn't quite as good as part 1, and had issues I feel:
- The whole side story of Prit being accused of a crime was just silly, and poorly handled. I mean the author himself is a lawyer, the character a lawyer, but even though the real culprit was known, nothing was ever really mentioned or done about it. It was kind of used just as a poor contrivance for them getting involved in the military.
- The last chapter. I don't like how the last chapter was left though, and I am going to keep thinking about it until part 3 is released. Part 1 at least ended on a note of hope, not a cliffhanger. I really don't appreciate books ending on cliffhangers...

But, that aside, the rest of the story was great.

Long live Lucullus! And bring on part 3

Need a technical advisor

A GLOCK does not have a safety you can release, nor are they hammer fired. Lastly, you don’t “cock” an AK-47. I’m not trying to be a gun snob, but a tiny bit a research by someone would’ve caught these.

All I could think is THERE BETTER BE A THIRD BOOK

Any additional comments?

OK after that ending I had to write a review. Let's get the bad out of the way first. I'm going to assume you've read book one. What is wrong with this book? Again it's the 17 year old "woman" with the 30-something lawyer. Wishful thinking on the writer's behalf? I would have chosen someone in their mid to late 20's as almost believable VS a child. It's creepy. Don't justify, I get it, I don't like it.

Other than that my only problem was the ending but I see there's a third book so I forgive the author.

On an almost annoying note the lawyer was whiny like the last book but not horribly so AND the plot line with how Pritt got forced into the military to avoid a trial should have been fleshed out more in order to be believable, it's like the author had to downsize his book so he combined two scenes into one. At no point does the girl tell the lawyer what happened to her and what she feels happened to the nun? I see how that one thing was used to move the plot along but it could have been A better explained section of the book since so much of the book depends on it.

The author spends time comparing their situation to nazi Germany but never fleshed that out either. Both scenes seem pointless when not elaborated upon. OK these seem like negatives but only the first two points annoyed me. These other few things were almost annoying but they showed promise and I let my imagination fill in the gaps to fix what I felt was a bit off.

There was constant action which kept you on the edge of your seat but I think I would have enjoyed the book more if some of the book had been a little wordier, I would have been ok with a few slower sections if they explained more of what the author was thinking. For instance more about the Nazi comparison and the rivalry with the royalists.

The fact that It took barely any prodding to get an entire hospital to start firing on each other was sort of lame. So nothing surprising has ever happened in this ULTRA cautious community? Shoot first and don't ask questions ever? I mean after two days and they still don't have the story strait?

Ugh I sound critical. I really did like the book. I'm going to go listen to the third book. Nick Poehdel does an awesome job as the reader!! I highly recommend this trilogy!! The only thing that was a total turn off was the idea of the teenager with the old man. If you can stomach that then you will probably like these books!!

90% love 20% hate

I really enjoyed the first volume of this series as a fresh take on an old trope . I was charmed by the main character's devotion to his cat. However, I just couldn't get past his gross pedo 'relationship ' with a vapid, two-dimensional teen. The ickiness of this and a few pretty misogynistic moments soured my enjoyment of this story.

wow! love his books!

A vulnerability about this character, where his friend is more the strong silent type. The narrator brings all the book to life.he was excellent. I highly recommend no1 and 2 in this series. Although it follows the theme every zombie book has. It has a slightly different flavor. Full of action, adventure and has a good ending which to me is most important.

Great 👍

I like that this is a zombie novel with a narrator who is different from the norm. It is also fun to hear from an author who isn't American, about zombie hoards taking over the world.
