The first audible book I bought after deciding to start my law firm
I’m starting my own PI firm a week in eight days. I listened to Mike’s podcast interview with Ken Hardison at least twice. At the time, I had been with an excellent PI firm for 4.5 years. I learned from two great trial lawyers and built my own book of business (originating millions in legal fees the last few years). But I had not really considered starting my own firm until I listened to Mike’s story. I was loyal to a fault to my bosses. When Mike began to describe himself as a visionary, I related to him in a unique way. When I read The E-Myth earlier this year, I realized that my two bosses (both technicians) resented some of my entrepreneurial qualities. I was ashamed of that in some ways. I decided to focus on being a better technician.
After listening to Mike’s podcast interview, I started thinking more about the qualities that make me who I am. I’m an excellent litigator and trial attorney. But I am a visionary at heart. I have no doubt.
I just finished Fireproof today. I’m fired up (no pun intended). I’m working hard to implement the principles of Fireproof and other legal entrepreneurship books.
Mike: You don’t know who I am or anything about me other than what I’ve shared with you here, but you’ve influenced me in profound ways. Thank you for that. When I look back on my life in 40 years, I have no doubt that I’ll remember Mike’s influence.
