  • #55 From Personal Itch to Global Platform: The Story of River
    Aug 12 2024

In this episode, we have a conversation with Rae Lambert, the founder of River.

River is an in-person event and social platform that orchestrates events at a global scale for brands and influencers by leveraging volunteer hosts sourced from the community.

The idea for River came from solving Rae's own itch of wanting to meet like-minded people in the tech industry. The platform started with hosting meetups for the All-In Podcast and grew rapidly to include other popular podcasts and communities.

We discuss it all. The challenges and the wins, to give you an understanding of what it takes to get a business like this off the ground. The team is small but efficient, and they have been able to attract big brands due to their scrappy approach and ability to back up their ideas.

Rae shares her tactics and how she successfully reached out to influential people like Sam Parr and Balaji Srinivasan to join her platform and work with her. She emphasizes the importance of personalization and research in her outreach strategy.

Rae also discusses the fear of failure and the need to take action in entrepreneurship. She believes that there are no truly new ideas, but rather the execution and ability to adapt are what set entrepreneurs apart. She shares her vision for River, aiming to become the Spotify of real-life experiences and bring people together in meaningful ways.
