War looms on the horizon, but Selene’s training as a wizard must begin...even though her age makes success nearly unattainable.

Will searches for a solution, but their only hope may be a dangerous bargain with the king. The fate of two nations lies on his shoulders, and the future is paved with violence. With few options, he needs the aid of uncertain allies and dubious friends. Traitors lurk among them, and soon he will be forced to choose who to trust - and who to sacrifice. For a terrible power has arrived in Darrow, and the price of victory will be paid in blood.

audio needs to be either recorded or go through some major editing as half of the lines are recorded with high quality microphones and the other half sounds like a cell phone

great book, awful audio

Book is great. The narrator stays amazing as well. I seen a review stating that the MC is turning somewhat evil. I think if a person goes through as much as the MC has he will become a darker. Not only that he still has his humanity. He is still compassionate. He is just not naive anymore. The humor is still one of the best things about this book. Keep up the good work

Series is amazing

I am slightly disappointed in this book. At least when I compare it to the other previous three books. Not so disappointing that I wouldn’t use a credit on it, but I expected a betterment on the series. First of all, I noticed some quality issues in the narration. There was this constant change of frequency that was going in and out of the narration, almost as if a different mic was being used, or the mic wasn’t positioned correctly. This issue would pop up for a minute, disappear for a while, and pop right up again. Kind of jarring and annoying. I think we all expect better quality from these audiobooks.
I’m not sure if I like the development of the character. In courtesy to those who haven’t read this book yet, things happen in this book that just seem out of character for the protagonist. This book just turns kind of dark and creepy. I know it’s a war book, but instead of growing in morality, the main character seems to lose some.
I enjoyed this book. Don’t think I didn’t. Things just went in a direction I wasn’t expecting.
So, I rated the story four out of five. It was too good for it to be rated as a three, but it wasn’t great enough to be rated as a five. If I rated the other three books, I’m pretty sure I rated them five out of five.

Great book, but it could have been better
