Regan was a robotics scientist that caused the robot takeover of the world. When his last creation finally completes his plan to free himself, it destroys the world in the process. Destruction offers him a second chance to test his wits and cunning in another world. Now tasked with a goal that would upset the balance of a new world, Regan might be a bit more than the people of the world can handle.

This is an alternative retelling of the first Dungeon Robotics book: Establish. All the characters have been altered slightly, and there are new characters. Only the initial chapters have a resemblance to the first book and quickly change paths to a darker side of things.

I understand the change of narrators, a vaguely British or intellectual accent sounds more villainous. However, given that this is one of what I have to expect is a rare turn of pretty much literal author fan fiction I think going with the same narrator would have been a better move. I bet that this was released with a much smaller budget from the publisher than the 1st book was because it just sounds crazy to release an alternate timeline to your story before you finished it in any medium. But if this one does is good as it should then I really hope you swap back to the previous narrators.

For anyone looking for an actual analysis of the story itself without much spoilers it's a pretty faithful re-creation with the obvious caveat that everybody is more evil. I think the best way to look at it is the prime timeline is a world where creation is the primary force and this world is one where destruction is the primary force. How dark that makes our world seem by comparison is up to you to judge.

Should have stuck with the same Narrator

This series is looks like it might dovetail with the Dungeon Robotics series. It’s pretty fun, except I’m not a fan of evil MC’s, so I’m unwilling to give it 5 stars

Great action

the narrator as always is absolutely amazing. The story itself takes place in a parallel universe to the story I've already enjoyed and loved so much. but the evil main character dungeon really soured it for me. sometimes the type of things are going well and sometimes the main character is just evil to be evil and it's a lot less fun. I dont know this story just wasn't for me.

evil much less likeable main character

Story was ok, not nearly as engaging as the normal version. A less intelligent Regan and a less interesting supporting cast was just "fine" vs great to me. Genius acting not like a genius was just bleh though.

Narration wise, I couldn't even get half way. The.. long and... sporadic pauses between words was... in my opinion ridiculous. Making every character sound darker and grittier was definitely the intent as well, but for some it just makes them sound cartoonish. The dungeon fairy is a straight up joke with this voice acting, not because of a male narrator, but because they feel like bad imitations of over the top charactachure characters.
But the pausing. Even on 1.75x speed the stuttering pauses between every few words for dramatic emphasis was horrific to listen to.

First story by this author I couldn't finish; I'll be getting it in print since the story is still interesting.

Only if you. Want a. True... Captain Kirk.
