The Empire is splitting at the seams. The Great Houses refuse to obey the Throne World and have begun to conduct increasingly independent politics. Sensing the weakness of the central government, even the most loyal star systems of the Imperial Core are refusing to take orders from above.

Is this just a string of coincidences, or a coordinated campaign? Can a disjointed humanity rally around a strong leader to deflect an alien invasion? Who of the many figures in intergalactic politics can rise to this challenge? And is there a basis to the creeping rumors that some influential aristocrats have joined forces with the enemy and allied with the aliens?

Finally!! A main character with intelligence and balls!! The space battles were a bit long, but in totality, showed the capability of author and storyline.
I cannot say enough how much I enjoy listening to the narrator; he’s one of my favorites and search/discover more authors due to his narration. CivCeo, Ten Realms, Infernal Guardian are among my favorite books by Neil Hellegers. And starting to discover more..

Thoroughly enjoyed the entire series!!

I had my suspicions about what was actually going on in this series but it actually surpassed what I was expecting. This is an amazing book and series, I'm sad to see it go and will gladly read any spin-offs or continuations to the series.

That ending though

what a twist! very well done on the ending
i have taken over 2 years to read all the books up till this point.
I'd call it a love hate relationship.
love the story
hate some of the people the MC needs to deal with.

wish i could give the story more stars 10/10

Absolute adventure, devastatingly exciting.

I’m not exactly sure why this book continues to get four stars. I would give it six. Plot lines were tight and concise, The motivations and actions of characters were well rounded, not excessive, and believable.

There was a reason for everything. Brilliant backstabbings, turn of events, and swings of loyalty. With good character storyline logic to back up every action.

There is also a variety of actions, to keep every type of reader engaged. Political motivations, space battles, Family, love, Lust, manipulation, and of course conquering the Galaxy!

two minor points that I dislike.
1) although it did not distract from the story, he paid very little attention to real world limits, and as such anything the main character tried had an extremely high chance of working instantly. Never having a downturn of luck. Even if real world situations would suggest it.
2) The ending felt very rushed, and almost like an evil genius sitting there monologueing to the audience so they will understand plot points he is board of revealing Slowly.

Devastatingly exciting

Book is an excellent conclusion to this series. the twist in the plot at the end creates a clamour for a sequal.
