Devon Walker has one chance to turn her life around. A half-wit ogre, a legion of overgrown jungle beasts, and a power-tripping AI are trying to stop her.

Relic Online is the hottest new game out there, and it's Devon Walker's best hope for escaping her hard-knock life. Thanks to her rocking achievements in other games, she's been hired as a salaried player. Even better, her new position comes with cutting-edge implants that turn RO's virtual reality into a full-sensory explosion. Her only task? Drive the game's creator AI to the outermost limits of its creativity.

Sounds easy, right?

But when Devon logs in, her expectations shatter like an ice golem hit with a sonic blast. Wearing nothing but a cloth tunic and ragged pants, she spawns inside a ruined city overgrown by steamy jungle. With zero skills and nothing in her inventory but pocket lint, she immediately runs afoul of the city's guardian, a stone golem the size of an apartment building. The encounter does not go well.

And Relic Online is just getting started with her.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

Engaging Plot • Strong Heroine • Excellent Narration • Likable Protagonist • Unique Setting • Interesting Mechanics

I’m sure authors hate to be compared to others but not since Dr. Kong’s The Land have I found LitRPG I liked as well as the ToS. The action is solid, the main character is likable and there are all the main races that make a fantasy novel fun.. that’s probably the main aspect of this book I enjoyed, it was fun. I can’t wait for the next in the series!

Women authors need to be promoted more. I love this genre, but am sick of the harems. Not in this book. Fantastically developed characters, great plot, great game mechanics, and a very well paced story. Annie and Jeff did amazing work, as always.

GREAT BOOK!!!!!

I could not put it down! More, please!! As a gamer myself and an avid reader putting the 2 together was perfect for me. the audio version allowed me time to 'read' even during my busy schedule.

Sound booth as usual is awesome enhancing the book greatly. Story overall was entertaining but short. The only issue is if you are an experienced mmo player the MC is an experienced newb, i.e. played a mmo significantly after launch and was helped by others, this explains away her incorrect ideas and style of play for the most part.

Good book, great peeformamce
