They murdered my father, so I stole their daughter....

She’s my captive, my little ballerina who dances only for me.

Nessa is sweet and innocent. She doesn’t deserve any of this. But that’s how our world works. The wolves eat the lambs, no matter how gentle they may be.

I’ll use her to get my revenge. Unless I give in to my hunger first....

Stolen Heir is the dark and gothic second act of the Brutal Birthright series. It’s a stand-alone enemies to lovers romance, complete with HEA and no cliffhangers. It contains blazing hot bedroom scenes for mature listeners only!!!

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.5

In Short: Retellings can be hard to do well. Sophie did this loose Beauty and the Beast retelling really well. Dark, gothic, and executed well.

General Thoughts: The first caught me by surprise by how much I loved it. So, I had high expectations for this one. It didn't disappoint. Retellings/reimaginings can be hard to do well, because you always feel like you know how the story is going to end. Sophie did this one well. Close enough that you felt the familiarity of the classic story but new enough that it still felt fresh. How she made me love these two characters? I love the contrast between the FMCs in books one and two and how the author shows both a bolder, in-your-face character and a quieter, gentler character can both be strong in their own way. These books are dark. This one had the added appeal of having a Gothic vibe. Really strong writing by Sophie. Onto the third now. I received a review copy and a review listening copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Spice Meter: ❤️‍🔥.5 Slow burn book, so not as spicy as some.

I absolutely love that Stolen Heir is a interconnected standalone and if you read Brutal Prince, you will see some returning characters. Miko is the “son” of The Butcher and after his father’s death he wanted revenge. And what better way to do that then take something from the Griffin family that they treasure, the baby of the family Nessa. This story had me in the chokehold from the beginning, just the hatred and anger you feel from Miko and all the light from Nessa. Stolen Heir is an excellent enemies to lovers, they are polar opposites but complete each other so perfectly. Sophie Lark’s books always just pull you in to their world. I don’t regret staying up until 2am devouring Stolen Heir , it was mafia yumminess.

A great beauty and the beast retelling with mafia goodness
