A mixed review.

I have been a fan of Kiera Cass since her debut of The Selection many years ago. The selection series, as well as The Crown series, will forever be some of my favorite books. I was extremely disappointed in The Betrothed series. I felt like it was sloppily written, but this book restored my faith in her ability. I wouldn’t say that this is an equal to the selection, but it is a close second, and is far better than her previous two books before this one.

I was disappointed in how "damsel in distress" the book was, but fortunately, that changed. it took several chapters. It was a good book, however, I personally like the selection more

Wonderful story

I really enjoyed the mix of romance, action, and suspense throughout! The story like the rest of her novels is phenomenal!

Best HEA ever!

This was just the right balance of pride and stubbornness paired with compassion and grace and bitter sweetness . I loved every moment of this ride. Brava to Kiera Cass and the narrators did an amazing job as well. This is a must read for all those hopeless romantics out there!

Nice, clean listen

It’s refreshing to find an author that writes stories without profanity and sex.
I enjoyed the story, but there were some little inconsistencies that bothered me (inconsistencies in books are a pet peeve of mine). An example from the text is a character got stabbed “in the chest” and later on the wound is described as in the “abdomen” and the “side” and the “ribs.” It ruins the flow of the story when I have to repeatedly correct the mental images in my head to fit the changes in the text.
The story is predictable, but still good. I liked this author’s other works better.
