entertaining story even though book 1 was only the boot camp, but unlike other stories, the MC comes from a military family and doesn't have the tegular struggles of not knowing what he signed up for

Good build

This book is a good foundation for what comes next. I like the idea of joint boot camp, and that you went with marine corps boot camp. The exercises were a bit light. But the real ones don’t translate to text well. I didn’t go officer though, so…

Excellent story, great narration

Interesting story, great action, characters that are arresting and relatable. Looking forward to the next one!

just skip the first 3 hours

just skip the first 3 hours. if I was reading this I would have put the book down.

Basic training by someone who has clearly NEVER been to basic training.

The story is OK. It isn't unreadable and the characters are interesting. This author however has clearly never served in the military. You don't get to go on dates with nurses and have time off in basic training or OTC. And the SERE training was completely ridiculous. Lance was knocking out guards and breaking out of stuff. The first thing we were told on the first day of SERE, "if we hit you it's training, if you hit us it's assault." I will probably try the second book, but if this continues I won't get the third.
