Gyl Mareth's rot corrupts the Guild, and Mark means to cut it out at the source. To do that, he'll have to lobby powerful supporters—spindly, blue aliens, toads infatuated with bureaucracy, and maybe even an influential bartender or two.
Help is there for an honorable man to find, as long as he's got the strength of conviction and the right kind of friends.
Disturbing the established order will mean kicking over a fair number of rocks, although Mark, Valint, and the others might be surprised by what scurries forth underneath—and what uniform it's wearing when it steps into the light.
Mark Tudor will make the title Peacemaker mean something once again, but to do that, he'll have to face the worst the galaxy has to offer.
Death waits in the quiet moments.
And sometimes, it is a soldier's loved ones that pay the greatest price.

Edge of my seat
Wow what a ride. This book has just about everything and hits all ranges of emotion. This is the best one so far. Not sure how to top this one but can’t wait for the next.

Masterful storytelling
Chaney and Maggert have a way of conveying the truth of combat and war that I have rarely seen from other authors. The pain, joy, and dark humor that any combat vet will recognize. To Chaney and Maggert I say thank you.

It gets real
This third episode of a well-appreciated retrospective prequel continues to introduce and explain major elements of the Backyard Starship series. Events come to a boil as the Stillness target friends and family of the small band of renegades.
Complaints are few, chief among them is the pedantic observation that author Chaney, despite his prodigious yet still highly entertaining output, has yet to meet a participle that he can’t find a way to dangle.

Badassery runs in the family!
Good stuff, well worth the read, really enjoying the Character building of Netti, Perri, and other main actors. This new series provides great background for why the Tutors are badass!

Best yet!
Love the characters and realistic banter. By far, this was the best of both series. Starting pre-Backyard Starship set up a brilliant foundation for both series together with any other spin offs. I am ready for #4.
