Publisher's summary

This prequel to Wayward Galaxy begins as the world ends…

The colony ship Boone has launched for the planet Amir. Two more ships, hidden in a secret base in Africa, hasten their own plans to leave Earth as global war spirals toward a terminal doomsday.

But RUPAC forces are seeking to prevent further launches, and in order to escape, Jack Hughes—Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman turned private military contractor—and his team of contractors must fight against local terrorist militias, RUPAC regulars…and the deep fear that everything and everyone they're fighting for is on the verge of annihilation.

As the enemy closes and Jack faces overwhelming odds, only his ability as an operator, his determination to get his team out alive, and the help of an advanced AI named Brody provide any hope of survival.

The world is ending, but Jack Hughes still has a job to do.

Strong Prequel

Excellent start to a great saga. No spoilers but it sheds light on how we got to the world of Amir.

New characters and muh-mm-more Brody!

Do you love laying the hate to Commies? Well, do you love entertaining stories that include said hate laying? This is for you, then! It’s settled, get the book and love it; I did! Another great story in a series that’s in it to win it! RC, we all love you, it was great to hear your voice. Mr. Mark Boyett, you must be a very handsome devil indeed, because you have a very nice voice that holds up in comparison to RC Bray. I’d say that is a very tall task indeed, and very well executed. Thank you Podium for bringing a great title to us. JN, and Jason, you guys are awesome, and are very deserving of some hero worship. This series - as well as - the Void Drifter series are simply amazing, and yet completely different. Would love to meet you and buy you both a beer. Cheers!

Above average prequel

Great book, cant say enough good things about it. I’m a big fan of the series and think wayward is now equal to ExForce. I’m naming my next dog Brody because of these books.

Great Back story for the series

No spoilers - If you’re a fan of the series you need to pick this one up!
Narration was a home run, Mark did a great job, glad that RC Bray voiced Brody - it was very John Matrix!

To-to-totally Wo-worth it!!!

A prequel worthy of a great series. Mark Boyett does a great job taking over the majority of the narration and I was thrilled to see that R.C. Bray reprised his part as the most awesome action AI - Brody! Looking forward to the next installment.

Great back story line

Nothing to dislike here - I'm curious to learn how, during the interval between Muir landing and Leann becoming an adult, how the community lost its way.

Great addition to the series

Mark and RC freaking awesome. Editing was spot on. 4th wall break wasn’t too much. Definitely recommend this listen

Well done

Good prequel. Now I want to re-listen to books 1-6.
The character setup in this book highlights the issues that caused the need for departure from Earth
