Initial interpretations and comprehensions of the situation

Documentation of behaviors such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) dates back to the early 19th century. In his book "An Inquiry Into the Nature and Origin of Mental Derangement," which was published in 1798, the Scottish physician Sir Alexander Crichton discussed the concept of "mental restlessness." Crichton described individuals who struggled to concentrate and maintain control over their attention, which are characteristics that are consistent with the current theories of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He recorded some of the earliest known observations of symptoms that meet the criteria for what we now refer to as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Many people consider these lectures, which were delivered by the British pediatrician Sir George Still in 1902 to the Royal College of Physicians in London, to be the earliest clinical reports of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Still reported on a group of children who exhibited evidence of hyperactivity, impulsivity, and a "defect of moral control." He made the observation that these characteristics were innate in the children and were not the product of a poor upbringing, which suggests that there may be a biological basis for the disease..........
