About this listen

He’s known by many names: Thanatos. Horseman. God’s last angel. And then, of course, there's the one I’m all too familiar with...

Death.

The day Death comes to Lazarus Gaumond’s town and kills everyone in one fell swoop, the last thing he expects to see is a woman left alive and standing. But Lazarus has her own extraordinary gift: She cannot be killed—not by humans, not by the elements, not by Death himself.

She is the one soul Death doesn’t recognize. The one soul he cannot pry free from her flesh. Nor can he ignore the unsettling desire he has for her. Take her. He wants to, desperately. And the longer she tries to stop him from his killing spree, the stronger the desire becomes.

When Lazarus crosses paths with the three other horsemen, an unthinkable situation leads to a terrible deal: seduce Death, save the world. A hopeless task, made all the worse by the bad blood between her and Thanatos. But Death’s attraction to her is undeniable, and try though she might, Lazarus cannot stay away from that ancient, beautiful being and his dark embrace.

The end is here. Humankind is set to perish, and not even the horsemen can stop Death from fulfilling his final task.

Only Lazarus can.

Absolutely gutted... but in a good way!

OH WOW, WOW, WOW. I reviewed book 1 (Pestilence), which contained a review of the first three volumes of this series (Pestilence, War, Famine). And even though I gave those books the full 5-star treatment, THIS ONE is the literal end all of end alls. What a world Laura has woven. From the start of the apocalypse to the end, every story brings you deeper and deeper into that all important question, 'can love conquer all?' These stories will stay with me for a long, long, long time. I'm so glad I own them all. Even though I just finished (and all combined, it's about 60 hours or so of listening), I am absolutely certain I will listen to them again. It's not your typical romance, but the love and hate in these books is so much stronger than the average books I've read or listened to. Don't let any negative reviews stop you from giving this series a try. I promise, it is SO worth it (don't forget to read/listen in order, that's critical).

Let Death Take Me…Seriously Though

The Four Horsemen has been right up there with the Bargainer Series for me. I have loved watching it evolve and to see how each horsemen has their distinct qualities. It’s been a journey and I procrastinated on finishing this one. It was one of those series where you don’t want to see the end.

Laura Thalassa is an amazing writer! I love her work and Death was no exception! Don’t miss out on a fairytale fantasy with great character development, plot, narrators, and a unique twist on the usual idea of the Four Horsemen! I always love having powerhouse women ready to fight for what they believe in! This is a must ready! Mahalo Laura! Keep those books coming in between living and loving life!

Not bad, not bad at all

I really liked this story I think it had a great ending for the series. I liked all of the books. So much imperfection but love prevailed. Recommend for those who like a little violence with their love stories. "Pussy Power for THE WIN!!" For those who swoon over a good love story with tests, heartache, sacrifice, and sometimes betrayal and loathing.

Perfection

I am both happy and upset that I waited a year to listen to this because I am a blubbering mess after the ending. This book was the absolute perfect ending to Thalassa’s Four Horsemen series, it’s up there with my love for Pestilence, and I know I’ll be re-listening to it over and over again.

One thing I absolutely loved was how strong these characters both were. Also I’d seen the fact that there’s a virgin MMC mentioned before, but I loved that virginity does not play a big part in the storyline.

Narration: Susannah Jones is utter perfection narrating for this series and I don’t think there is anyone who could be better cast. Jay Ben Markson was new to me and while I enjoyed his narration, I would not necessarily seek him out again.

Just one thing...

I love the story and the main narrator, but I can't stand listening to the second narrator that voices Thanatos. I often turned off the audio book during his POV and just read it instead.

Well Famine steals the show

Really good book. It's a little more "wordy" than the others. I feel like it goes over the same think about emotions and explanations. It's over and over and over. But Famine was HILARIOUS. And Pestilence and War are fun to have in there. "Knock Knock MF"
I busted out laughing.

Life and death are lovers

I have been anxiously awaiting Death’s book since starting this series. While I’ve loved each Horseman for different reasons, Death has always been my favorite. Something about his dark and mysterious aura has always drawn me in.

This book certainly did not disappoint. I loved every second of it. It made my heart race, my pulse pound and I shed real tears a couple of times. Thanatos was so very raw! I found myself sad, angry and in love with him all at the same time.

Lazarus was the best possible match for him. I loved the push and pull between them. The relationship was fought immensely on both sides but was so beautiful to watch come together.

I’m not going to lie. I was unsure if this book was going to have a happy ending. Laura certainly scared for a moment but I absolutely love the ending and I’m so sad that this series is over.

Last of the Four Horsemen. I’ll miss this story

I really liked the four horseman series. It’s a interesting concept. I feel like it has enough world building to make it not feel like just a romance novel . I come back to them over and over again . I listen to the audiobook instead of reading now. I loved the narrator. Great acting . She really puts you into the story with all the emotion. There’s a lot of inner monologue but she’s a great actor. It feels like she’s feeling the words and not just talking .
