Publisher's summary

First published in 1998, Following Through shines a spotlight into the black hole in inner space where good intentions disappear. It reveals the startling reason why we so often fail to make the life-improving changes we truly intend to make.

Although we typically blame ourselves for poor follow through - we beat ourselves up for lacking motivation, willpower, self-discipline - Levinson and Greider argue that the real culprit is the mixed-up way the human mind is designed. The mind, they insist, simply isn't hard-wired for follow-through. And as much as we - individuals, society, and especially the self-improvement industry - like to pretend otherwise, good intentions don't automatically drive our behavior. And expecting ourselves to automatically do whatever we intend to do only leads to disappointment, frustration, and failure.

Fortunately, Following Through won't leave you discouraged. It'll show you why facing the truth about the mind's faulty wiring is a key to achieving greater success in virtually every area of life. Following Through will teach you bold new strategies for consistently turning good intentions into life-improving action.

I really like this

Where does Following Through rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It took awhile before i got into the good stuff (the strategies), but it has provided many good ways to motivate me to get off my butt!!!! I like the narrator's voice--i pretend like i'm in England, which always makes me happy.

Oustanding!

This audio book is meaty and results oriented. it can help one get a hold of one's life steering wheel to one's preferred destination while noticing the simple joy that comes from steering.

Painfully dull

I made it about halfway but just couldn't stand the sheer boredom of listening to the reader. Also the writing was horrible. Just get to the point already. Kind of makes me laugh that I couldn't finish this book even though that was the whole point of reading it.

Good Ideas, Lots of Filler

There are some really great concepts in this book, but it could have been about half the length. Lots of parts ramble on and over communicate simple concepts.

For the authors...

I have listened to many books, but this is my first review. This, however, is for the authors.

The idea is great, the science and logic are amazing and the tips and tricks can also be life altering. Overall, the core message of the book is really amazing and I thank you for writing it. But guys, is it ever long!!! This could easily have been a 2 1/2 hour audio book. There is so much unnecessary fluff! Too many of the same stories and ideas repeated over and over. Too many unnecessary details about the people you talk about. I hope you can find a way to shorten it and rerelease it. Everyone would benefit from it, because it really is a great book. I recommend it to everyone, despite my above complaints.
