Publisher's summary

Scorio has won his vengeance. His foes lie vanquished, his skeptics silenced.

Yet, as the powers of hell watch eagerly, Scorio and Naomi spurn those who would recruit them and venture into the untold depths of hell in search of the enigmatic Herdsmen. Amidst landscapes of haunting beauty and terror, they will face terrible fiends, forge friendships with wondrous new allies, and encounter societies of Great Souls to put the worst of hell to shame.

All will seek to manipulate Scorio. To use him. To bend him to their will. And all will suffer the consequences for trying.

Great per usual. Some editing issues

So glad to be back pushing through Hell with Scorio. Love the world and excited to see how the story progresses.

Small things that get me in every book of the series so far… reusing words that stand out (e.g. undulating, cyclopian, ponderous). They’re all great words, but when used too frequently have a tendency to break immersion to some degree.

Also Nick P. putting on a great performance per usual. Called Scorio Scorpio a couple times, but I got a good chuckle.

*will update review when finished

Update: f***ing fantastic. Story is solid enough to overcome the editing issues. Phil has done a wonderful job yet again and I can’t wait for the next book. Time to relisten to the Black Gate series while I wait.

Another brilliant book

This book continues the story with Scorio and Naomi. It was well written and exciting as usual. Nick
Podehl is amazing as the narrator and the emotion he puts into his voices really makes the book exceptional. Definitely recommend this entire series

Oh my heart

10/10 almost made me cry, and I don’t cry at things often, let alone when listening to a story.

Action Packed

This book really came through for the series. Phil Tucker has become my favorite writer. There is great story and character progression that builds well from book 2. I couldn’t stop listening to the book. 26 hours ended before I knew it. Nick Pohdel is a tremendous performer. I now look for books with him reading them instead of just titles. I am already anxious for book 4! I can hardly wait for the entire series to complete. Thank you for the entertainment!

great story

I liked the story, although some form of easing into it would be nice, after a year i was not sure about the locations.
