A Warhammer 40,000 Novel

A decorated Lieutenant of the Ultramarines recognises the signs of an imminent Tyranid attack, and launches a desperate counter-offensive to save Regium, a proud Imperial world.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

The Imperium fights for its very existence against a threat unlike any other in the galaxy, and a Tyranid invasion beyond any yet experienced.

THE STORY

'The dream...it is a portent...of the end.'

The fortress world of Regium has a proud history, For millennia, it has endured when others have fallen to ruin and damnation, standing defiant in defence of the Imperium of Man. But now it is shaken. Parasitic plagues run rampant, and Regium's citizens are haunted by dreams of horrific monsters feasting upon their flesh and marrow.

Lieutenant Castamon of the Ultramarines recognises these signs of an impending Tyranid invasion all too well. Rallying his warriors, the battle-hardened veteran launches a strike force to slaughter the xenos in the outer system, before it can reach Regium. But as this new tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan proves unpredictable and deadly, Castamon and the First Company must harness all their skill, might, and zeal, or face utter annihilation.

Written by Darius Hinks. Read by Theo Solomon. Running time is 12 hours and 14 minutes (approx).

Decent 40K story, meh narration

Good story while you are building a Leviathan box, since many of the models appear as characters. Unfortunately, the narrator chose a higher-pitched, shakier, whinier voice for too many strong, battle-hardened characters. Maybe not full-on bad, but not ideal.

Good, not great

Out off all the audio book for 40K I have listen too, this is a good one. Not as great as the Lion or Dante but still a good listen. Worth the listen if you like 40K stories.

Narrator makes it difficult to listen to.

I had to make myself finish this one. Narrators propensity to give most characters a nasally whiny voice ruins many of the characters.

an amazing start to 10th edition

some of the best fights I've ever read, a story that kept me wanting to listen more, and a beautiful showcase to the incredible story of Warhammer. it does a good job introducing the new tyranid models, and is an amazing start to the new addition. definitely would recommend a read.

Not for Tyranids fans

It might be realistic that the imperium don’t know the names of the different Tyranid sub-types but as a fan book it’s pretty boring to listen to fights against “large Tyranid creatures” or “small fanged creatures”. I bet if you were a Space Marine fan it was alright but as a Tyranid fan it’s just annoying

Is just a way to put the edition starter box in a book and let the units fight each other, stern guard were just killed off though lol

Narrator destroyed the book

Some how GW didn’t filter this guy out. Most the voices are whiny. Not the voices of soldiers and space marines. Great story but it was nails on a chalk board with every character that was introduced. Instead of a battle cry it sounded like a child complaining.

It’s fun and has cool lore aspects to it

Gives us some more cool tyrnids and we get to see the new models in action but it’s hard to follow because there’s no view from both sides of the conflict when the nids are the big bad of the story. It was fun and like I said in the tag had a lot of cool lore aspects to dissect from it.

Pretty boring and anti climactic.

I can't blame alot of people for bashing the narrator for some voices sounding the same. However when a book introduces like 15 characters rapid fire its kinda hard to have a voice for each. The narrative was pretty basic and boring however and Voltis actually felt pretty Mary Sue the whole time. Except for his "failure" near the end of the book he just kind of bullshitted through everything. Overall it was okay at best.
