Publisher's summary

So, remember that whole 'send Montana to the capital—he's ready for prime time' plan?

Yeah. That might've been a little bit hasty.

Our hirsute hero really stepped in it. Like, is on the verge of losing his dukedom and everything he's worked for stepped in it.

The only way out? A little-known technicality that stops Senate proceedings and sends Montana off on what's most likely an insurmountable quest. One where odds are good that he'll either die without a respawn or accidentally commit treason against the Empire.

Neat.

Can Montana stop the Dark Queen's army on his own and hold the line for Glaton? Will he do enough to save Coggeshall from the aristocratic vultures circling? And will he finally find the sword of the gods he lost on his very first day in Vuldranni?

Of Slicing Men is The Good Guys at its finest: gory battles, surprise tactics, and unexpected heroes. Come for the long-term campaign play and rich character progression. Stay for the stupid banter and crazed, demonic inch worms.

Still Good but ...

Eric Ugland still writes an entertaining addition to the series with interesting new characters, story twists, humor and plot progression. He also introduces the the first of others who can match him in combat. I deducted one star from the overuse of f-bombs and double entendres referencing of male lower parts.

Neil Hellegers continues to be a delight to listen to.

but why

why does it always seem these books don't last nearly long enough? I swear it seems like I press play, and then the audible voice is telling me it hopes I enjoyed the program. but real talk, this was a good one. some unexpected twists, some expected ones, just a great read.

Another riveting listen…

I really love this series. My only complaint is I wish the books were longer and they came out faster. You have to start at the beginning though for this to make any sense.

I’m a hardcore Eric Ugland fan

I lack the eloquence to adequately describe how much these books have impacted me. I love the stories you spin! They stick with me for months after I finish the books, and I find myself going back to parts to re-listen.
My wife and I had another child who refused to sleep before 3am, and on top of that he had a set of lungs that would put the Nazgûl to shame. So every night for 6 months I’d settle in for rocking him and listening to your books.
The Good Guys, the Bad Guys, and more recently The Grim Guys, I love them all! Thanks for your story weaving, I’m enjoying it immensely!!
Great job narrating Neil, you’re the best narrator for this series, no doubt!
Excited for more!

Back to One

This was great! It was more like the initial books in the series with Montana bumbling through an adventure (in a good way). Thankfully he’s not constantly second guessing himself anymore. Good battle scenes with some interesting side quests.

Another great addition to The Good Guys series

Great story with typical Montana humor. loved the eater shield. Great lines like "what's that?" It's a tunnel sorta like a hallway underground." Had me laughing.
