Publisher's summary

The war will come - it is inevitable.

After centuries of struggle, the ISF Intrepid has finally brought its colonists to New Canaan, a star system better than any they imagined. They made landfall and began to build their new home, far from the troubles of Sol and the Inner Stars.

Yet no one in the Orion Arm has forgotten that the colonists possess the most valuable technology known to humankind, least of all Tanis Richards - as she secretly prepares to defend New Canaan against any and all aggressors.

Now things have come to a head. A Transcend fleet has invaded New Canaan, and a Hegemony of Worlds fleet on its way. Tanis Richards must defeat a rogue AI that has its own designs for humanity's future, while saving her people from invaders.

General, governor, commander of 20,000 warships, Tanis Richards stands on the edge of a precipice. If she jumps, she will draw all of humanity into total war.

Mispronunciation nightmare

Was this read by an AI? Soooo many constant mispronunciations. Story was great but man someone needs to review the readers pronunciation and give her some feedback.

Mispronounced & very well populated

Enough people have bemoaned the reader’s various mispronounced words. The one that made me laugh out loud was “lag-range point” instead of “La-grange point”. Oh my.

I just gave up trying to keep track of the number of new people, places, and alliances. I would have needed an org chart with annotations, Perhaps there is one in the print version.

Pronunciation Matters

Cris Dukehart is driving me crazy! She’s a good reader and I like her various accents that separate the characters from each other. Having said that, one thing I think she needs to consider; pronunciation. Some of the words she has missed pronounced include Aldebaron, Iapetus, and for heaven sake‘s, deuterium. She needs to look out for these words and others like them. They are specialized so are worth consideration. Every time I hear a miss pronounced word it kicks me out of the story while I tried to fix it in my head. Granted these words use a Greek or Latin pronunciation not English. Maybe that’s the problem.

Great book, loving the series!

Great book, consistent progression and character development as well as building new relationships and introducing Tanis and Joes daughters as a more prominent part of the series. Action packed, well written and thought out. There are alot of spinning plates right now, things are getting a bit more complex as alot of storylines and characters merge

The adventure continues

Tanis and the crew of the intrepid have had 18 years in which they have been building up New Caanan. But she has also been planning for war. Something that she knew would once again be calling.

very good, hard to keep track of characters

I liked the book and the series. however I found it difficult to keep track of who was speaking at times and found myself rewinding to catch up. Worth listening to though, judge for yourself

Showing us all where the story is going.

Additional information on the nature of the AI gives the background to show where the player will take us. The story becomes so complicated with multiple opponents and a chaotic battle that it was impossible to keep up with all. Some of the subplots or side tales become the best part. Enjoyable, complicated, sometimes convoluted.
