Political Pocket Book
This book is awful. The profanity is completely unnecessary and in fact discredits any factual information attempted to be provided. The author takes hits on America and every food industry that exists. It also accuses America of ruining the health of other countries just to make money. The author doesn't provide any new information about anything and in some cases provides only half truths. In addition to scaring a listener into becoming a vegetarian, she gives diet "tips" that have been proven to be unhealthy. In the attempts to sell the listener on the concept of "fake meat" (her words, not mine), she totally ignores that most of it is frozen and subject to the same processing that she is so against in other foods. She spends about ten minutes on the attributes of exercise, which is essential to all "skinny bitches" and clearly focuses on a vegetarian diet, using examples that are marginally logical at best. The book is not encouraging. It is a four hour lecture that, at the end, makes you feel like you're a penny waiting for change. The book lacks inspiration and creativity. I believe it is only a best seller because the book jacket promises what the actual content never delivers.

Skinny Bitch
Very disapointed in this book. Most of it consisted of trying to converting readers from eating Meat and Dairy Products to Vegen Diets. It appears to be written by a PETA member and contains a lot of Animal Cruelty Content. Would not recommend.

Please skip this book
I've been a science journalist specializing in medical reporting for the last 15 years...and, I also happen to be a vegan (for ethical reasons that stem from a former employment with Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences).
I'll sum it up: this book infuriated me. It basically comes from the same position I do with regard to diet and governmental overview of the food industry--but does so with nothing but a barrage of incorrect information, misinterpretations of facts, faulty assumptions, and a complete lack of perspective. And all this under the guise of giving "bitchy," humorous advice (which it basically fails at).
I'm not going to even begin to try to address any of the entirely wrong scientific or historical inaccuracies--there are just too many. I would just want warn people that this is not the place to start if you want to learn about the vegan lifestyle or perspective on the food industry. Try "Vegan for Life" by Jack Norris and Virginia Messina (actual dietitians) and "Eating Animals" by Johnathan Safran Foer (a great listen here on Audible).

Disguised Vegan Agenda
I was looking forward to learning about eating a healthier, well-balanced diet but was disappointed to find out that this book is not about balance at all. They cleverly hide their aggressive vegan agenda in between their witty humor and some actually useful nutritional facts in order to make it more digestible for the reader (pun intended haha). If you are looking for a push to become a vegan, this book is for you. Otherwise you're better off finding a book that just plainly focuses on nutrition rather than the perceived benefits of a particular type of diet.

Seriously angry author with a hippy agenda....
not what i expected at all. Thought it was a self help, motivational read, however its just an angry vegan with allegations of corrupt government, me vs. the world attitude. Seriouly angry and paranoid vegan memoirs...
give it two stars for the entertaining, smug language used throughout.

this book is trying to turn people into VEGANS
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
this book was great to start with, and then it just went south. I feel like every chapter is about turning people into vegans, which is not for everyone. It is quite obnoxious actually to listen to or read as it is criticizing too much and talking about the cruelty of the meat industry which is disturbing to listen to. I don't believe you should scare people into becoming a vegan. It is a personal choice.
What was most disappointing about Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin ’s story?
The title and the story does not match! I thought it was about how to be healthy etc but it was totally a "how to be a vegan" book! I don't believe in vegan theory... lol I eat meat and fish and have a balanced diet and i believe that is the way to go. I think I will be returning this book.

If you don't eat meat, this book is for you.
This book really didn't have any useful information for me. Basically they want you to eat soy, non meat, fruits, and vegetables. This book isn't for me, because I love meat. I really don't give a shit if the government likes me or not. I could care less.

Not what it seems!!!!
I just want people to know what they are actually purchasing. I did listen to the entire selection. Though this is advertised as a no nonsense approach to weight loss, that is not what you'll get. You do get plenty of insults and vegan propaganda. You could get the same thing by reading the Jungle and a single magazine article on eating right.

Sickening
Felt like there was a hidden agenda… PETA maybe. The content was extremely skewed and gory. Not what you’d expect from a ‘no-nonsense’ diet book.
It basically said “Go Vegan or you’ll die from being poisoned by everything else in the world.”

don't bother
I got this book to inspire me to eat healthy. The condescending tone of the material and presentation by the reader were not inspiring. This is the first book I have stopped listening to. The language is crude and the "awesomes" and valley language put me off. The information may be accurate however, that is lost in the language & presentation.
