Publisher's summary

A woman must learn to take life by the throat after a night out leads to irrevocable changes in this juicy, thrilling novel from the USA Today bestselling author of Such Sharp Teeth and Black Sheep.

Sloane Parker is dreading her birthday. She doesn’t need a reminder she’s getting older, or that she’s feeling indifferent about her own life. Her husband surprises her with a birthday-weekend getaway—not with him, but with Sloane’s longtime best friend, troublemaker extraordinaire Naomi. Sloane anticipates a weekend of wine tastings and cozy robes and strategic avoidance of issues she’d rather not confront, like her husband’s repeated infidelity.

But when they arrive at their rental cottage, it becomes clear Naomi has something else in mind. She wants Sloane to stop letting things happen to her, for Sloane to really live. So Naomi orchestrates a wild night out with a group of mysterious strangers, only for it to take a horrifying turn that changes Sloane’s and Naomi’s lives literally forever. The friends are forced to come to terms with some pretty eternal consequences in this bloody, seductive novel about how it’s never too late to find satisfaction, even though it might taste different than expected.

Critic reviews

"As beautiful as it is horrific, So Thirsty is a potent ode to love in its many forms. Rachel Harrison weaves a dark and gruesome tale of true friendship’s ability to transcend both death and undeath."—Chuck Tingle, USA Today bestselling author of Camp Damascus

“The addictive latest from Harrison is by turns gory, rage-inducing, eerie, melancholy, and hopeful… a smart, scary, and occasionally sexy page-turner.”—Publishers Weekly

“With a realistic protagonist who faces choices that are sometimes scarier than monsters, this book will have readers sinking their teeth in.”—Library Journal (starred review)

Thirsty for more

I have read all of Rachel Harrison’s books, I think this one is my favorite. I do wish the main character would’ve stopped going on about being so old at 36. It isn’t that old. That’s my only complaint.

Narration is not the right match

I think I would have waited for a library copy if I had heard a sample before preordering. There’s something about Kristen Sieh’s narration of “Such Sharp Teeth” that made me feel that she should always narrate Rachel Harrison books. Sieh adds a mesmerizing cool girl vibe that keeps me spellbound. This will not be one of my listens that stays in rotation when I want to be charmed and compelled.

Rachel Harrison I love you

Does she ever miss???? This is her best book yet! More gory than the others and just as fun with a deep meaning that she doesn't have to hit u over the head with or be pretentious about because she knows u and she knows you'll get it...bc she gets it. 5/5 I absolutely LOVED this

I don’t know..

I don’t know what I was expecting but I’m a little disappointed.
I love all of the author’s other books but something in this book (a few things actually) left me feeling underwhelmed.
I feel like the plot could have gone in many different creative ways but it ended up nowhere.
I don’t know…. Just a little disappointed. It wasn’t great but as a fan of the author’s other works, it wasn’t bad enough to deter me from reading her next one.

A fun romp

This was a fun romp. Not the author’s best but still a good read. 4 stars.

Perfect start to spooky season

The narrator did the BEST job at bringing to life each character. She was able to really show their quirks just as Harrison wrote them. I absolutely enjoyed listening to her! The pacing was perfect and it flowed so well!

I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect start to my spooky season reads and everything I wanted it to be.

Rachel Harrison is easily one of my go to cozy horror authors, she makes the BEST female friendships in her books. I could not get enough of Sloane and Naomi’s friendship, their banter, it was perfect.

They could not be more different, yet their friendship worked. Regardless of what was happening, they were there for each other. What I wasn’t expecting, was the romance that Harrison threw at me. I don’t normally love romance in my horror books, but the way this worked out..I ate it up. I thought that Henry was a kind soul.

There was mystery, suspense, humor, sadness, it honestly was the full package for me.

Everyone should add this to their spooky season TBR. It was just a fun read, and a quick one! This is one I couldn’t put down. I loved every second of it!

No plot just vibes

And the vibes are in shambles. This was so boring. The concept made the book sound like it would be a fun, girl power, spooky time. Instead it was just ramblings.

This sucked

I normally loved Rachel Harrison books and was so excited for her to take on vampires, but this was a total miss. I love her extended metaphors about women’s roles, but the female characters were so deeply unlikeaboe and the romance just missed totally. Shockingly bad.
