A brilliant and concise history

The author does a great job of explaining the thought processes behind many of the actions committed by both Europeans and Muslims.

Complete and Comprehensive

Gives a detailed sociopolitical background before, during, and after each crusade, so you truly gain a full understanding of what was going on and as close to an explanation of why it was going on as you'll get without having been there yourself.

Interesting, well researched

A detailed review of historical factors involved on "both sides" as they fight against each other and among themselves.An interesting book, a lively presentation.

I found it quite complicated in following the timelines and locations so using a historical map (included in the book) helpful.
