Publisher's summary

Embrace challenge, unleash your self-confidence, and recognize your true worth

  • Do you sometimes feel like a fraud at work, despite years of training and experience?
  • Do you feel like it's pure luck that people can’t see your incompetence?
  • Are you worried that one day, people will find out that you’re really just faking it?

If you answered a resounding yes to these questions, then you might be experiencing imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is a persistent feeling of self-doubt, incompetence, and inadequacy, despite evidence that reflects otherwise.

Sure, we all feel self-doubt sometimes. But imposter syndrome is a whole new level of self-doubt.

It’s like self-doubt on steroids!

It makes you feel as if you don’t deserve any of your accomplishments because you can’t shake off the feeling that you are not good enough at what you do. It’s almost as if you are just “winging it” and you are lucky that people are fooled by your act.

Psychologist Dr. E. V. Estacio shares groundbreaking research from applied psychology and insights from her own experience so you can apply these practical and easy-to-follow techniques to overcome imposter syndrome, know your worth, and flourish with self-confidence at work and in life.

It draws upon scientific research from health psychology, positive psychology, organizational psychology, coaching psychology, client-centered and humanist counseling, brain and cognitive psychology, and critical psychology, to effectively melt away feelings of worry, fear, and self-doubt, and ultimately manage your imposter syndrome.

In this audiobook, you will learn about:

  • The basics: what imposter syndrome is and what is not; the characteristics and symptoms of imposter syndrome; and how mismanaging imposter syndrome can be harmful to you and others around you;
  • Mindset: how adopting a growth mindset, as opposed to a fixed mindset, is crucial to overcoming all sorts of fear (e.g., fear of risk, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of disappointing others, and yes, even fear of success!);
  • Perfectionism: why you need to understand the difference between adaptive perfectionism and maladaptive perfectionism, and how maladaptive perfectionism feeds your inner critic;
  • Message framing: how messages from childhood, the media, and the environment can influence imposter syndrome; and how you can reframe these to help you unleash your inner self-confidence;
  • Scientifically-proven techniques: effective and easy-to-adopt strategies from applied psychology such as mental imagery, the TLC questioning sequence, and mindfulness to improve your mindset, boldly conquer your fears, and build self-confidence.

Get a “new you” operational with this guidebook

Everyone has entertained scrupulous doubts of their professional capacity at times, regardless of their level of performance or height of achievement. Here the doctor’s research discovers the pro and cons of “too much” self-introspection and then moves forward advancing a paradigm adjustment process that’s easy and fun to implement. Benefits are innumerable including finding much more satisfaction with your job environment, in your social life and personal life with other fellow human beings. She uses charming labels throughout and even a complete apprentice will find the material, study phases and free workbook, connected, interesting and motivating. If you have been experiencing lots of burnout, emotional exhaustion or fatigue issues recently, it could be time to perform a fabulous personal reset. I exuberantly recommend this as a personal map book for recharging your life to fully maximize its purpose and impact.

Easy, quick & very helpful

I was initially hesitant to get this book because it was so short but it was direct & to the point; no fluff. The practicality of the workbook was great. The author’s narration is not bad at all like some reviewers said. I definitely recommend.

Imposter Syndrome Remedy is the perfect follow-up

Dr. E.V. Estacio takes the next logical step in her PAME series with The Imposter Syndrome Remedy. PAME is a Greek word meaning, "Come on, Let's go!" Dr. Estacio has broken it into a very managable acrostic of Purpose, Action, Momentum and Energy. She uses this same basic formula in her second book in this series to focus in on the Imposter Syndrome.

Dr. Estacio gives just enough clinical background for the lay person or entry level scholar to come away with a solid foundation in the definition, history, and salient features of this malady.

But make no mistake! This audio book will not be out of reach for most listeners. Dr. Estacio makes the material accessable, and dare I say, even fun at times!

Dr. Estacio has narrated the book herself, and she has the perfect voice for the job. Her delivery is uber-calm and non threatening. When she shares personal examples from her own life it draws you in for an even greater understanding.

Well cited hints to life almost sounding spiritual

This book describes useful help for self confidence. Even thought it is an academic book that cites many psychologists it has a spiritual feel to it, a feel of including everyone. The lady reading the book has a very uniqe voice that was difficult to accept the fist half hour, but then I even liked her voice.

Basic information that can be found online

A brief explanation of IS without much about its causes or psychological origins, but a fair amount of exercises and techniques to work on. The author’s soft, unexpressive and somewhat monotone. voice often did not hold my attention and this along with her slight accent made some words and phrases unintelligible or hard to understand. Book would benefit from a professional narrator.
