Publisher's summary

A brand new ship. A brand new crew. What could possibly go wrong?

When Ishmael takes a crew of academy cadets into the Toe Holds, he's unprepared for the level of trouble green hands can get into.

Meanwhile, their academy liaison discovers what can go wrong when you learn the wrong lessons and try to teach the wrong students.

Will they all make it back to the academy before somebody accidentally takes a short walk out the airlock without a suit?

Ishmael Wang is one of my favorite characters.

I read this book twice before listening to ing to it. I can’t say enough good things about the series and the book. This space opera that uses the characters for drama makes the books very interesting making me to want more.

I look forward to the next series Nathan creates for us follow Ishmael, Soya, Pip and Nat.

Just a good story...

Nathan's telling of Ishmael's life journey is well worth the listen. Another piece is revealed. I am looking for more. Lowell's worlds are a joy to explore.

Always a wonderful ride!

Although I enjoy different types of sci fi, Nathan Lowell writes stories with intrigue, detail, and great character insight, which is such a refreshing diversion from “cowboys in space.” I am happy to go anywhere Ishmael does!

Paperwork side of space

I was hoping to hear more stories about exploration and the cadets on board, but the tale is mired in logistics and educational practices.

Back to the Ish I have come to love

After School Days left a sour taste in my mouth, Working Class seems to find Ishmael coming back into himself finally. The crew is back in the toeholds, now with a bunch of cadets/quarter shares along to make trouble and force Ish to do some soul searching. Captain Case is much more mature suddenly in this book and has some very important things for Ish to hear. Lots for Lowell to wrap up in the final instalment. Looking forward to it!

What didn’t stand out!

Other than the audio glitches in chapters 2-4 every second was amazing! I love the world or I should say universe you’ve created and it has me star struck and itching for more. I am sad that I’ve finished this book but I’m even more excited for the next! I can’t wait!

A little slow

The story seemed to drag and not tons happened, but i enjoyed following the next chapters of Ishmael's life. Hoping the next one will resolve some stuff left hanging.

Filling out the characters

this book spent a lot of time developing the characters. Lowell is adding a lot to the universe and I hope he continues to flesh it out. I particularly enjoy the idea of an instructional designer shipping out with them and sort of expected him to start taking shifts.
If you are a fan of this series, you will probably enjoy this one as well

Once again, the relationships are so real.

I love the stories and the seamless reality of spacer life. It feels as if I am there, going and living aboard.
