Most of us know we own too much stuff. We feel the weight and burden of our clutter, and we tire of cleaning and managing and organizing. While excess consumption leads to bigger houses, faster cars, fancier technology, and cluttered homes, it never brings happiness. Rather, it results in a desire for more. It redirects our greatest passions to things that can never fulfill, and it distracts us from the very lives we wish we were living. But it doesn't have to be this way.

A few common principles drive performance, regardless of the field or the task at hand. Whether someone is trying to qualify for the Olympics, break ground in mathematical theory or craft an artistic masterpiece, many of the practices that lead to great success are the same. In Peak Performance, Brad Stulberg, a former McKinsey and Company consultant and journalist who covers health and the science of human performance, and Steve Magness, a performance scientist and coach of Olympic athletes, team up to demystify these practices and demonstrate how everyone can achieve their best.
The first book of its kind, Peak Performance combines the inspiring stories of top performers across a range of capabilities - from athletic, to intellectual, to artistic - with the latest scientific insights into the cognitive and neurochemical factors that drive performance in all domains. In doing so, Peak Performance uncovers new linkages that hold promise as performance enhancers but have been overlooked in our traditionally-siloed ways of thinking. The result is a life-changing book in which listeners will learn how to enhance their performance via myriad ways including: optimally alternating between periods of intense work and rest; developing and harnessing the power of a self-transcending purpose; and priming the body and mind for enhanced productivity.
In revealing the science of great performance and the stories of great performers across a wide range of capabilities, Peak Performance uncovers the secrets of success, and coaches listeners on how to use them. If you want to take your game to the next level, whatever "your game" may be, Peak Performance will teach you how.

Timing, it's often assumed, is an art. In When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing, Pink shows that timing is really a science.

There's no other book like this. Longtime running writer Scott Douglas marshals expert advice (including his own, cultivated from more than 100,000 miles of personal experience), and a growing body of scientific research to show how running can make us happier. How? Everyone knows that running builds stronger muscles and a healthier heart; science now shows it also helps develop a healthier brain. For those struggling with depression and anxiety, a consistent running routine can enhance the mental-health benefits of talk therapy, antidepressants, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Light and meaningful read... Can't go wrong!
Although most of the tips and tricks are quite obvious when mentioned, several could be lingering far away actually from being put to practice, and ultimately come alive in making sense with the stories, examples and justifications by the authors. Even if you already apply much of the content to your daily routine, I found it interesting to take a slight dive on the scientific details for each scenario. The amazing stories of overcoming different kinds of limits, despite being very superficial, are instigating to hear about and give solid support to the titled science of success. Recommended especially for those striving to up their game, whatever it may be. Performance is solid.

this book encompasses so many other books I've read but instead of going totally in-depth as the other books do this book gives you the bullet points and only slightly goes over the experiments and studies done. absolutely an amazing book would totally recommend it to any of my friends especially if they can't slog through the other much longer books.

simply amazing
this is without a single doubt one of the best books I've ever listened to. Everything is spot on and full of value. I'm going to buy it on amazon to recommend it to others.

Simply love this book!
I simply love this book! I only wish I had come across this gem many years ago yet, it’s never too late! The material is sound and the supporting information is phenomenal! The stories and many examples bring to life the principles and provide ideas on how one can adopt them into their particular life. I’m recommending this to everyone I come across as a must read book! Powerful!

Good Learning Tool
The book is written in a way to help you learn through stories, bulleted recaps to support retention, and thoughtful chunking and spacing of the concepts and tools. I find myself referring back to my bookmarks as I am working on my development goals.

Entertaining and thought provoking.
Every once in a while I like to take a break from listening to fiction and give nonfiction a listen. The truth is I probably would have gotten more out of the book by reading it rather than listening. Listening is great for entertainment but for education I tend to be more focused if I am the doing the reading, but that being said I found the book, a study on the science of success and how you might elevated your own personal performance in sports, work, etc., to be both entertaining and thought provoking. And while I didn't find any of the information shared within to be all that new or ground breaking, I've always been one who believes that the more times you hear something the more likely it is to stick with you. The stories shared and the reasoning behind the various believes all made sense. I definitely felt the time I devoted to listening to the book was worth it and could see myself listening to it again somewhere down the road.
Christopher Lane does a fine job with the narration.
