The Inner Now - A Personal Journey into Meditation

By: The Inner Now
  • Summary

  • The Inner Now Podcast documents a journey into meditation and mindfulness. Every couple of weeks I'll post a short podcast talking about my experiences, both positive and negative as I deal with stress from my job, my relationship and also how I am developing as a daily meditator. I'll also discuss books I've been reading or listening too and how they have helped me. The podcast is, in essence an audio diary of my journey. As the podcast and community grows it'll be great to speak to more experienced meditators and teachers about their experiences.

  • #004 - Hindrances
    Jan 3 2021

    Happy New Year!
In the episode of the Podcast, I cover a varying array of topics including key lessons learned from the books 'The Experience of Insight' by Joseph Goldstein, and 'Waking Up' by Sam Harris. I talk about the mental factors known as Hindrances and how meditation can release you us them. I also update you on my 100 Day Gong and  I answer a question that's been bugging me - 'If I come up with me best ideas when I let my mind wander, what is the benefit of meditation'?

  • #003 - The 100 Day Gong Challenge
    Dec 22 2020

In this third episode I talk more about The Urban Monk, and the 100 Day Gong Challenge that I will be starting, as we go into 2021 as part of an effort to control my stress levels, which in turn should help me become calmer, less reactive and ultimately, happier. (and nicer to be around)

  • #002 - Being an Urban Monk & The Art of Journaling
    Dec 16 2020

In this second episode of The Inner Now podcast, I talk about Mind Journals and how they can be a really useful, but sometimes restrictive tool as I've experienced in the past couple of weeks. I also talk about the book The Urban Monk by Pedram Shojai, who name I probably mispronounce many times, the Waking Up with Sam Harris meditation app and also I talk openly about struggles with maintaining a work life balance and how that's impacted my ability to meditate.
