People are leaving or changing churches at a record pace, and we have to ask a very important question—when should we NOT leave a church? Certainly, there are reasons when it’s time to leave a church, and when done so in a healthy manner, it can be a glorious transition for all involved. There’s a celebration of the promotion that all in the church community can participate in. The process of leaving a church is equally as important as the reason for leaving.

A primary barrier to revival is the church’s reluctance to honestly analyze the dark, negative condition of our culture. House church advocates want pastors to know exactly why they left the institutional church. They have legitimate disagreements with the way the local church is functioning today, and their issues have been largely ignored by pastors and those who are in leadership. Their evacuation out of the institutional church and into house churches may be the wrong move for some of the right reasons. There are serious issues to deal with, and pastors, it’s time to wake up and lead the church into the new wine skin.
