Publisher's summary

The monster hiding under the bed is not always the enemy.

Benjamin

Broken. Feral. Dangerous.

Like a snake lying in wait, I watch every move the little mouse makes. Her whimpers and pleas for freedom fall on deaf ears and a wicked grin—until the little mouse becomes my savior instead of my victim.

Mackenzie forces me to confront the past I’ve buried deep within my soulless self, awakening feelings I never thought I possessed. I need to protect her from my partner.

Will I be able to cut ties with someone I’ve known so long for this new ray of light? Will Mackenzie be able to accept me for who I am when this is over?

Mackenzie

Hurt. Confused. Helpless.

Falling for my captor is not what I expect when I am brought into the viper’s nest. What’s more, I realize he has a soft spot for me. Held against my will, afraid for my life and virtue, I struggle. Not just for freedom, but for my sanity. His harshest touch sets my soul ablaze. What is wrong with me?

Benjamin is more than the monster under the bed. He creeps through the shadows with a vile heart. When his partner in crime holds my life in her hands, Benjamin shows me he is more than he appears to be.

Is it possible to save the irredeemable? Can I save myself and escape captivity? Will I be able to recognize myself once I do?

Never Let Go takes Lauren Biel’s listeners on a darker journey than ever before. If you like broken characters who fall in love in the face of depravity, listen now to find out how much love it takes to charm a snake.

My Review

Was this book dark…yes? Did it keep you captivated…yes? Would you listen to the story again…yes?

Sheesh the book was good! Just go into with an open mind. There are some twist you don’t see coming that’s answer so many questions.

wow.

Wow. Absolutely wow. This book was dark but incredible. The dynamics of the characters were more than I ever expected. I did not see the ending coming.

Dark, gritty and annoying FMC

I couldn’t believe how the main female main character was more sympathetic to Marcy but “recoils” every time Benjamin was too much? Like he wasn’t a victim?

I just didn’t like that McKenzie was “the lucky one…” she just became a broken record… over and over and I was becoming annoyed by her inner monologues… what made her “special?” I didn’t get it and this is sometimes a problem… when the male protagonist becomes addicted to one woman all of a sudden when they didn’t really do anything spectacular and it was all in his head really…

Benjamin (Dillon) was really really sad… his story and consequently Stockholm syndrome was just too too sad… his relationship with Marcy was fucked up to put it simply… mommy but have sex with mommy too?

This book is DAAAAARK!!! BUT I just didn’t like McKenzie… too many inconsistencies…

If Dark Romance is your thing

DESCRIPTION:
Mackenzie was looking for her friends house when a women pulls up beside her asking her if she wanted a ride since it was raining. Mackenzie got in the car and was drugged. When she woke up she was in the basement of a strange house.

MY THOUGHTS:
Where do I begin with this book…. Ummm well it is a dark romance that is messed up. Lauren always knows how to give you the shocked factor in books. Was it good.. well sure.. but is it something that you need to run out and go read… no. If you are into dark romances then I would say yes read this.

why am I like this

I know the type of stories Lauren writes, and this was on point.
note that if you think you like dark romances, proceed with caution.
MacKenzie was on her way to a friend's when she made a mistake and got into a car with an unassuming stranger. from there, everything spirals.
this story is basement dark. pun intended .
she is locked away, tortured, punished, etc.
you can feel her desperation and anguish, but she is still a feisty girl, which makes you want to fight for and with her
Lauren always finds a way to make you feel better, but in a why am I like this way. haha.
the narrators did an amazing job with putting the emotion into this, and their was a lot of emotion.
I was not disappointed and will read her books forever

Dark and twisted

I’m a giant Lauren Biel fan so obviously I loved the story. The narrators did an excellent job, especially the female who had to pivot between the innocence and desperation of McKenzie and the crazed anger of Marcy. Definitely a fantastic listen for any dark romance lover!

Sadly this was a no for me

I feel like this could have been a really good story but it was just missing something. I kinda felt like a story was just being thrown at me instead of being immersed in it. I didn’t feel the emotion that should have been there with this story, I didn’t feel any kind of connection to the characters, it just felt… empty and kinda cheesy, which is not what I expect with a dark book. It could have partially been the narration also, it just felt cheesy

Never Let Go

This book🎧is so f#cken dark it was too much!🫣 Warning ⚠️ the amount of triggers is crazy, nasty, awful things you can think of it happened and not in a good way! I can say it does have a HFN but a step price was paid for it. Is it worth the credit? For me it’s a NO way too dark for me liking. But if you’re into rape scenes & torture then this is for you.
