Resumen del Editor

Are you truly taking care of yourself? Or are you too busy taking care of everyone else?

So many of us find it easier to love other people than to love ourselves. We struggle to put our own needs first and have a hard time asking for what we want let alone going after it. Instead, we attach ourselves to selfish people trying over and over to win love from those who simply can’t offer it.

If that sounds familiar, you may be the victim of narcissistic abuse. In A Cult of One, Richard Grannon exposes the insidious effects of narcissistic abuse and shares his own winding road to recognition and recovery. Through martial arts, mysticism, psychedelics, and psychology spanning over four continents and 44 years of life, Grannon discovered a systematic discipline for healing. Join him as he explains step-by-step with courage, humor, and optimism how to forge your own path to a better life.

Focus on healing yourself, rather than the “wrong doings” of the narcissist in your life!!

What an amazing book!! I can’t wait to listen to it again. This author truly has been in the trenches as a result of narcissistic abuse (and other forms of abuse, as well.) He offers step by step instructions and daily practices in order to not only heal from the effects of said abuse, but he also teaches how to begin to create a beautiful, healthy love for oneself. In doing the “work”, you will begin to live life by your own design, rather than simply accommodating someone else’s self-serving agenda. In other words, create a life so full and abundant, that nothing the narcissist “throws your way” will be appealing.
This is a wonderful book!!! I’ve read several on the subject and I believe this may very well be the last one I need!!

Never disappoints

Thank you for the work that you do and the way you deliver it. I’ve been utilizing your work from yt as well as others, but I always come back to your videos as your delivery makes the most sense to me personally. This book is no different. I appreciate you.

RG delivers.

There is plenty of content out there on the subject of narcissistic abuse and related topics. Richard Grannon is the best imo.
Fantastic narration by the author.

Friendly, Humorous, and Encouraging

While the topic itself can be a bit unsettling for the reader that has more personal experience, Richard provides a casual spread of research and personal anecdotes in a way that is disarming. This book is a great starter, and the stories and proposed exercises for recovery were relatable and accessible for me. There are some tough truths, but highly recommend for those who have difficulty pinning down that elusive 'proof' of what the heck happened in *that* relationship, or need some encouragement, solidarity, and clear (but not easy) steps to begin the process to recovery.

Impactful. To the point and with Great insights!

I almost did not get this audiobook bc I have been following Richard since his beginnings on Youtube and made the wrong assumption to have heard it all. I was wrong! And I am so glad that I got it. Despite another review that states this is an autobiography, I differ from that opinion. This is an honest and sincere recount of events that many of us that have lived under narcissistic abuse can relate to. Richard gives us a clear picture of how he was able to move from rock bottom to healing. I am about to start listening to the book one more time and take notes this time, as he shares some good information that he has never talked about in his videos.

Thought-Provoking Material for Codependents

This book gave me the comfort of community I am desperately seeking at this point in my life. Exiting a traumatic and abusive, (and often absurd) relationship, it is easy to feel isolated and quite frankly, foolish. It feels even more isolating and foolish to keep repeating the cycle with the same person. Richard validated the experiences of these relationships with brutal honesty, humor, and wit, without downplaying the severity in which these relationships are damaging ourselves, and the urgency at which we must protect ourselves.

While much literature on narcissistic abuse allows us to validate our experience through victimhood (the pointing of the finger at the narcassist) it is that thought process that essentially absolves us of any wrongdoing and inevitably leads us back into the same sort of circumstances and relationships. Rinse, recycle, repeat. Over and over and over.

Richard's personal story and analytical view of many prominent psychologists, reminds us, that, yes, while the narcassist may have been awful and heartless and cruel to us in many ways, the recovery, and thus the avoidance of these relationships in the future, lies within the understanding of ourselves, NOT the understanding of the narcassist.

Richard challenges the listener to turn the microscope back on our own hearts and own brains to find the true source of our anguish and ultimately the true source of awakening as well.

I hope to see more literature from Richard in the future as I found this book to be a great resource for anyone struggling with narcissistic abuse, codependency, or simply struggling to fit into the chaotic web of humanity.

As a Grannon fan, I'm not disappointed.

Mr grannon's cadence and soft tone make this book very easy to listen to. I suggest you ask yourself what you're expecting before beginning the book. is there really an answer to those questions you have? is there a hard drive you're able to slide in your belly button that allows you to overcome all the crap you're trying to swim through? probably not. I believe this is a pretty reasonable approach that requires a person willing to accept it's a very long road to recovering. And you, the ever inquiring codependent, have some issues you need to attend to. support this man.

Some good ideas here

Really like the author’s idea that co-dependency and narcisism are very similar. He’s been there. His experience seems very real world and so is his advice. He speaks from a place of authenticity
