What will it take to run a marathon in less than two hours? The world's fastest times for the marathon have been dropping since the distance of 26.2 miles was made official nearly one hundred years ago. But after a noticeable decline that occurred for a half century, the times, while still edging lower, have stalled several minutes north of two hours for the past decade. For the first time, 1:59 examines what it will take for an elite distance runner to go subtwo hours.

Finally, the solution to the number-one reason we don't exercise: time. Everyone has one minute. A decade ago, Martin Gibala was a young researcher in the field of exercise physiology - with little time to exercise. That critical point in his career launched a passion for high-intensity interval training (HIIT), allowing him to stay in shape with just a few minutes of hard effort. It also prompted Gibala to conduct experiments that helped launch the exploding science of ultralow-volume exercise

Do not be one of these! 70.3 triathlon is a serious step up and preparation is key.

I enjoyed this listen. I’m a member of a Hotworx studio and appreciated the in depth explanation of what goes in to each workout type. Found it interesting. The female reader did a good job of voice, inflection, tone. Listened less for the history and the author’s personal story and more for the rationale behind Hotworx and for its benefits.

Narration wrong
The narrator was a woman a lot of times the book, spoke in first person, and it’s a woman’s voice. They repeated a lot it was repetitive, and a female voice just ruined it for me.

something franchise owners push on employees
read was pretty lame, mostly checked out after a few chapters, pretty much the dudes personal story, as uninteresting as it sounds. Pushed onto new franchise owners and employees, franchise is pretty lame too, and cheaply built, some info you hear Joe Rogan Podcast about heat shock proteins and what not you hear parroted here, not much science.
