Medical student Amy Brenner is spending the night on a locked psychiatric ward.

Amy has been dreading her evening working on Ward D, the hospital’s inpatient mental health unit. There are very specific reasons why she never wanted to do this required overnight rotation. Reasons nobody can ever find out.

And as the hours tick by, Amy grows increasingly convinced something terrible is happening within these tightly secured walls. When patients and staff start to vanish without a trace, it becomes clear that everyone on the unit is in grave danger.

Amy’s worst nightmare was spending the night on Ward D.

And now she might never escape.

This book grabbed and kept my attention from the very first chap! I couldn’t put it down! It kept me guessing and the end took me by surprise! I love when a book can do that!, especially after listening to over a hundred thrillers.! A must listen!

the book was interesting and I like the narrator, but as a mentally ill person and former psych nurse with a degree in Behavioral Science, find this book to be extremely offensive. the way they talk about mentally ill people is completely unacceptable. she acts like mentally ill people are something to be feared. in actuality, mentally ill people are much more often the victims of violent crime than the one committing the crime. there's a lot of misinformation in this book. I'm shocked by the lack of basic medical knowledge from the medical students. I think the whole handling of mental illness in general in this book is doing nothing but perpetuating the stigma against the mentally ill. if there was a caste system in the United States mentally ill people would be the Untouchables. people just want to sweep us under the rug and forget about us. just a little side rant, thanks Ronald Reagan for how many lives you ruined and how many people are homeless or dead because of your great idea to empty out all the psychiatric hospitals and cut essential services for the mentally ill . I still enjoyed the book other than the handling of mental illness.
