Damon has become a monster...sort of.

Betrayed and left for dead by a group of slaving nobles, he thought there was nothing left but to bleed out as he counted the number of bricks on the ceiling. But fate had other plans.

Moments before Damon's death, a gelatinous, gluttonous mimic reveals itself to him. Fearing a more gruesome and horrible death down the mimic’s gullet, Damon offers the food in his pack—sandwiches, cookies, and everything else! Encouraged by the (admittedly forced) generosity, the Mimic fuses with Damon, enhancing his body and transforming him into a half-man half-mimic monstrosity.

Once a poor, down-on-his-luck scout, Damon now has new capabilities far beyond anything anyone on Basania has seen before.

The only problem? His new bodymate’s insatiable hunger for cake...and human flesh.

I got this book on a whim due to Jeff Hayes Narrating; I am glad I did, this is not some epic, but an adventure and it delivers. It is brutal and funny. Look forward to a new way of adventuring and the second book! Narration was on point and the story had very little lag time in its telling.

Pretty good!

nice feel good story, besides a few swear words here or there would have been a good children's book.

Love the story, lots of fun. Great characters. if you like Venom you're going to love this mimic. Supporting characters deserve an arch all their own. excited for the next book can't wait to see where they go next.

like Venom in a LITRPG

I loved this book from the beginning. It looked like a fun listen and it is. I am not a gamer so that part of the book can be confusing but it is a minor part of the book. The characters are interesting and dynamic. It seems like some of the monsters are changing and becoming more human. I look forward to the next book and following Damon on his next journey.

Mimic & Me book 1: Entertaining

So the voice work on this is amazing. While a lot of the feminine voices are a little too high-pitched for me, the performances from everyone are perfectly professional and each character is unique, distinct and entertaining.

The story itself is also very entertaining. It's an interesting l spin on some of the reincarnation and RPG tropes and the plot itself has a lot of mystery and intrigue.

However, the writer is clearly young and still figuring out how to handle pacing. For those who are familiar with d&d there are moments that feel like Player Character introductions, where main characters are rushed into becoming fast friends to the point where it doesn't seem organic or realistic. People also switch moods very quickly, going from traumatized to jovial within a single page turn. Finally I'd say that while there is an attempt to make characters realistic, they still come off as very tropey and in some cases cartoonish.

Overall, I'd say this story is very entertaining and worth a read despite some of the issues with pacing. It shows a lot of promise and I look forward to following this author and seeing how their writing progresses.

Great Performance, Decent Story
