Publisher's summary

Hannah is not human, and she's not sure what will happen when she stops pretending otherwise.

Still stuck in a slowly mutating body on Earth and still waking up in a fantasy world whenever she sleeps, Hannah's stress continues to mount every single day. As magic continues to spread to her friends—whether they like it or not—Hannah is forced to confront what that magic means about her and what her terrifying Goddess wants her to do with it.

Clever and thoughtful

This series and the Hive Mind book are wonderful. When can we get print versions?

The stories are entertaining, the ideas are clever, the characters are relatable, and most of all, I feel seen. Ms Maher understands nerd brain with such depth and clarity she just has to be one of us.

An amazing second volume

I really like bioshifter, it feels like an incredibly personal and well-thought-out take on the fantasy genre, eager to push outside of the normal conventions and to show those things that make it special or deeply personal.
As a "sequel"/second volume, I think it is better than first one, as I feel it explores more the relationships presented and builds on the groundwork stablished at the beggining.

I have some things I don't really like about it tho.
The dialog feels good most of the times, but there are moments where it is super akward.
There are also other things, like the handelling of mental health (which at least for me it's good), but most of the things that were awkward in the first volume are ironed here.
In conclusion, I think that if you went through the first volume and you like it, you should grab this one, it just gets better.

A wonderful story expertly narrated

This book is emotionally complex in a way I absolutely adore. It’s the kind of book where I read it twice in kindle format while I waited for this audiobook came out.

Great continuation of the story

A few books have made me hoping for something to happen and then the author makes it happen. One is Brandon Sandersons War Breaker. This is another one. This author clearly understands what a reader of their books wants. Of course there is a few bumps like in anything, there not enough of a detractor to even change my rating.

S' a good book

Enjoyed the characters, setting, topics, and performance. Natalie Maher is a fantastic author, to the point of desiring more stuff with similar vibes. Sara Beth Pfeifer was also amazing; both in having verbally distinct voices, and in how they changed as the characters did. Or as different representations of the same character.

Profoundly echoing

The characters are so real, even with a gritty fantasy setting, that every few chapters I have to make a note for my own therapist as we all have a personal revelation about the same thing.

There are books you read that completely shatter your worldview and broaden your thinking - this series certainly tries to do that even with the non-fantasy elements. But where this book really shines is how much it explores the depth it brings to each character's personalities; their wants, needs, and the dark insecurities and desires that they try not to think about but are still a part of them.

Can't wait for the next one

The mom reminded me of someone I know and I had that "ohhhh" moment. Great stuff.

damn good narrator

if you liked hive minds give good hugs, you'll love this. my only complaint is the incredibly slow chapter where the MC is debating whether or not to kill people WHO ARE CURRENTLY TORTURING HER.

The rest is damn good characterization of an insecure teen doing her best waaaay over her head.

Screwed up in just the right way!

Story: 4/5
Performance: 5/5

The story is just screwed up in certain ways to raise some of my displeasure, but overall I loved it. The performance was good enough that I could feel the stress and panic as well as distinguish between different characters. It was long and rewarding and fantastical. I loved it.
