Dear Listener,

What is the best part of being an author?
"Becoming an author has been an insane ride. When I was working 130+ hours a week as a resident, it never occurred to me that I would ever devote myself to anything other than medicine. However, expressing my creativity while connecting with amazing people around the world has turned out to be the greatest joy of my life. I find resonance in breathing life into characters, so much so that they begin to feel like real people to me. When I wrote my first book, I never expected anyone to ever read it. To my surprise and delight, through my writing, I have found a meaning in my own life and a connection to so many wonderful men and women around the world. I'm the luckiest guy I know. "– Aleron Kong, writer of Alpha

Another great read and sytem.

After waiting years for another book I have to say I am not disappointed. This new world while sharing common elements with its sibling series is new take on common tropes. I can't wait to read more.

Overall I Like It

This definitely has the Kong feel. If you like his other books you will probably like this. If you haven’t tried his other books, try them first they are a bit better as an introduction to his style.

Pros: It’s a new Aleron Kong book! Been waiting awhile for this.
Love the universe it happens in. Despite the inherent problems I would gladly move there.
Definite power fantasy. If you want to see a total bad ass kicking butt this is obviously heading in that direction.
Mostly doesn’t rely MC stupidity, mostly.

Cons: It is another new series and not part of either the Land or God’s eye series.

There isn’t much story. There is a ton of world building and power-ups but it feels more like an episode of a show than a first novel.

The exception being the intro and first challenge which just felt like they dragged on. It feels like a prologue that got out of hand.

Lastly, the MC is a total a Gary Stu, just like the MC of The Land. This is a stylized Aleron in physical description and backstory with some military stuff added.

Also, if you’re a blonde haired and blue-eyed person that might get offended at 20 versions of talking trash about the Aryan look, you might want to give this a pass.

Absolutely fantastic

It's been a while since I we've been able to enjoy a new book by Dr. Kong but he's clearly still got it. But alas like a junkie who has fallen off the wagon I'm just sitting here now scratching my arm needing more

Chaos Awakens and DEMANDS you bend the knee or ear

The master of American Literary Role Playing Game genre has done it again! I'm a big fan of Aleron Kong. The AKU is expanded further with this latest book that follows the MC Fin on his journey of awakening. Kong's books are very well written, and Kong commonly uses his IRL knowledge of the medial field to inform his characters and their actions. This creates a uniquely beautiful blend of fantasy, video games and real life knowledge creating a truly in-depth experience for the reader.

Kong's choice of narrators never disappoint, and Pavi Proczko is no exception. Alpha is captivating, more raw and a bit darker than past books and this narrator does an exceptional job of capturing all the action and grit, while simultaneously paying attention to the nuance required.

I'm so excited to continue to explore the AKU and hope you will join us.

Fantastic magic system

Aleron is a magic theory geek! He uses a few names from other systems like “mana threads” but it’s unique enough to be exciting. The main character is a bad ass already

Same Universe Different Story

First let me say as someone who absolutely loves The Land and thank Aleron for introducing me to LITRPG. This book explored some of the newer ideas that I see in the genre using cultivation and other magic systems than his previous books. However, the book keeps his classic Kong charm with random notes of pop culture & sarcasm. It perfectly blends the hilarious nature of The Land & the brutality introduced in God's Eye. It also explores that time frame from when Richter is introduced to The Land and before Remington is taken into God's Eye. The only gripe that I have is the ending felt very abrupt and left me dying for more information, but I will trust the process and wait for more from the esteemed Dr. Kong.

A great new step for the world of the Labyrinth.

A fantastic third outing for Aleron. The new concepts were much easier to digest than God’s Eye’s many systems, and feels like the early days of reading The Land for the first time. Starving for more, and can’t wait to see more soon. Only major downside was the rather loud notification ding, but the rest of the sound design was stellar. Pavi’s voice acting was excellent as always. Can’t wait to read more soon.
