Publisher's summary
An exciting novel with suspense, humor, and a sprinkle of truth.
Hospitals are about care first and foremost...or are they? There's one nurse who isn't so sure anymore....
Caroline Summers, a registered nurse and former army lieutenant, is drawn to Texas to become a front line worker. But as it turns out, the pandemic is threatening more than lives, and it isn't long before she discovers the virus isn't the only thing killing her patients. Caroline’s about to discover investigative skills she didn’t know she had…and things are about to go a lot deeper than she imagined.
Along the way, Caroline is challenged by a quirky cast of characters: A nurse high on red Bull who never stops moving, a germaphobe who sanitizes everything in sight, a nurse who can't keep her mouth shut, a clueless new recruit, and an absentee doctor who's never around when needed.
And lets not forget the love interest--a doctor she could fall for, if only they could stop fighting long enough to notice.
Grab your stethoscope and dive into a world where the drama is real, the humor is sharp, and nothing is quite as it seems. What will she find…and, more importantly, what will it mean for her career?
Hospital drama or investigative thriller? Decide for yourself what's real.

It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Three months ago, Tansy Bloom quit monster hunting. Since then, she’s been trying to live a normal life (whatever that means), but ending up single, unemployed, and living on a boat outside her godfather’s pub definitely wasn’t part of the plan. So, when Tansy’s ex-husband – fellow monster hunter Rex Barclay – turns up like a bad penny and asks for her help with his latest investigation, Tansy reluctantly agrees. At first, the job appears to be a straightforward monster hunt – following a spate of large creature sightings, Rex believes a werewolf is on the loose in Norfolk.

I was hooked from the first chapter of this audiobook! The suspense and unexpected twists kept me on the edge of my seat. The storyline was so gripping that I stayed up late to see what would happen next. A plot cannot surprise me often, but this one did. My wife and I even turned off the TV, poured ourselves a glass of wine, and listened. This is a must-listen if you're into thrillers that keep you guessing. Gripping and Real
Living in Santa Fe, where community and healthcare are deeply valued, I found this medical thriller to be both gripping and real. The story’s intense hospital setting during a pandemic resonated with my own experiences in the tech industry, where crisis management is key. The protagonist’s journey of uncovering hidden truths kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s a compelling read for anyone who enjoys a blend of suspense, humor, and a touch of reality.

A MUST-LISTEN!
This book masterfully combines elements of suspense, humor, and a touch of reality to create a captivating story set in the high-stakes world of healthcare. Caroline Summers, a nurse with a military background, finds herself in Texas on the front lines of a pandemic, only to uncover a sinister plot threatening the lives of her patients. As Caroline navigates this dangerous terrain, she unearths investigative skills she never knew she possessed. The story is enriched by a colorful cast of characters, including a hyperactive nurse fueled by Red Bull, a germaphobic colleague, a gossipy coworker, a clueless new recruit, and an absentee doctor. Amidst the chaos, a potential romance with a doctor adds another layer of complexity to Caroline's life, though their constant bickering keeps them from seeing eye to eye.
This novel blends hospital drama with an investigative thriller, creating a narrative filled with tension and unexpected twists. Readers are invited to explore a world where nothing is as it seems and to decide for themselves what is real in this engaging and thought-provoking tale.

Intriguing
This book was really intriguing. I’m in healthcare and there are so many characters I was able to relate to. I actually played the book the whole way through as I kept waiting for more and the book did not disappoint. I’ve recommended the book to my daughter too as I think she’d love this book. Such a great job by this author!
