Publisher's summary

All I’ve ever known is the Guild. They clothed me, fed me, raised me. They trained me. And in return I became their perfect weapon, their loyal soldier, their deadly asset. For as long as I can remember, the Guild has been my life. But now, it’s about to become my death.

Not everyone is cut out to be a mercenary. I’ve watched countless colleagues fail in their missions and pay the ultimate price. I’ve watched peers lose their minds with the weight of the work we do, and pay with their lives to keep our secrets.

I never thought I would become one of them.

No one quits the Guild. But I sure as hell won’t stick around to be killed by some coward in the shadows, pulling strings to see me fail.

How do I run from the deadliest of hunters?

How will I hide when they have eyes everywhere?

By making the enemy of my enemy my friend.

The Guild was my whole life. My purpose. My mentor.

Now I’ll do anything to escape them. To escape him.

Even if it hurts.

Especially if it hurts.

Amazing!!!

This is an addictive series! Reverse harem, very steamy, fast paced, great plot. Assassins guild turning on one if their own.
Duet style narration with wonderful voices.
Completed series but part of the Shadow Grove world with Easter Eggs of both the Madison Kate & Hades series.

Tate Hames does it again!

I love that she uses different narrators! Great performances by Sparks, Mehrtens and Webley!

This story continues from Honey Trap, left on a great cliff hanger cannot wait for the next book!

I enjoyed the heck out of this book

oh the webs they weave...everyone is keeping secrets and the more that gets uncovered the more questions there are. Several important points finally make sense in this book though but that ending left me with my jaw on the ground. Also, can I just say how much I adore Leon! He cracks me up with his crazy but while he has many secrets he's also the more honest of the 2.

-gasps in righteous outrage-

The audacity of Mrs James and her cliffies just get more and more brazen! She draws you into her world like no others and it's annoying as all get out to screech to a halt at what feels like a dreadfully abrupt pause. Now I'm going to run off to kindle and ignore the world around me so I can read the next book as it's out over there already because I need to know someone rescues Stanley right this very second.

Epic

Perfect narration, fascinating characters, great storyline. I read a lot of these kinds of books and so I’m familiar with the tropes, but this storyline was really unexpected. I wasn’t sure where the book was going. Rather than a good guy/bad guy scenario there’s two slightly unhinged guys with lots of red flags. Leon’s character is just the best. This is my favorite Tate James series so far.

She did it again

Everything about it was absolutely amazing. Tate James has done it again. Constantly keeping you on your toes, making you suspicious of every character, while also making you fall in love over and over again. All three of the narrators are hot and hell. Tate James dishing out plenty of spicy scenes. I simply loved every second of this <3
Tate James, please never stop writing
(and never stop putting it on audible)

I have yet again been completely sucked in by a series in the Shadow Grove world.

Ok…ok… so that is how you are going to play that ending then Ms. James. Huh… don’t mind me screaming into a pillow as a result of whatever the hell you just decided to do to these characters. I rather dislike you right now.

Beyond the ending, this book was rather entertaining. I loved the interactions between Leon and Kai. These two absolutely despise each other and it is so entertaining to read about them getting into it with each other. Especially with Leon’s sense of humor.

There is something seriously sketchy going on in the guild and I cannot wait to see where this goes next!

The audiobook for this one is so good & I loved the duet narration for this book!

Can't Wait For KO

Thus was my third re-read of the series, first Audio. Tate has done it again and Kai...oh so 🔥I am on pins and needles for book three next week! Let me say, each time I read this again I find more Easter eggs!

If you have never read Tates work or an RH etc then let her be your intro and I promise you will not look back!

Just ok

I had such high hopes with this book, after the ending of the first book, this book doesn’t have the same energy as the first, it’s a bit flat.
Leon was always a creepy character, now he’s even creepier.
Kai was uber masculine, nimble & quick on his feet, sharp as a tack and logical, but this book has made him into a dumb wimpy oaf.
Dani’s behaviour became reminiscent of Madison Kates towards the end, not that of a highly trained alpha guild assassin.
I hope book 3 is better
