Publisher's summary

Penta was a horseman of great renown - some might even say he was legendary. Now in his retiring years, he is ready to watch the setting sun from the porch with his wife of many decades. But when unexpected violence takes her and everything from Penta, he must learn how to survive as an unwilling vampire.

Set in the fantastical world of Kinthur and filled with magic and heroes, Penta’s journey will take him across strange lands and encounters with creatures of darkness and light. He must now find a balance between the man he once was and the growing darkness that now lives within him calling for blood and power.

so good

Phenomenal introduction to this world through one of it's most complex and interesting characters. There's a hint of the larger world within this very focused story that makes me want to read so much more.

A great book

I rather liked this book but I can't understand why the author would not continue the series and only come out with two books hopefully the author will start writing book three

Overall a good story!

Trevor Jones brought a world of characters together to bring a great story to life. The plot, characters, and overall cadence worked well. Audio Version: David Hunsdale did a great job. There were some quality issues here and there but not too often.

WHAT AN EPIC LISTEN!

PENTA KA WA BY TREVOR JONES AND NARRATED BY DAVID HUNSDALE is the first book in the series. Penta, father, husband horseman and thanks to a very nasty vampire, a vampire . Penta must learn to control and use his newfound vampirism . This is the start of Penta Ka Wa's story. From farmer to vampire to prince, follow the life and death of Penta Ka Wa.

The book starts out slow and if the listener is patient you really get everything: Vampirism, epic battles and the life of Penta Ka Wa. As the book moved on I started cheering the vampire, and wanting to hear more of his story. David Hunsdale does an outstanding job of bringing all the characters to life which enhances the story. I cant wait to get ahold of the second in the series.

I recieved this audiobook free in exchange for an honest review.

Fantastic D&D world brought to life

This was a fantastic listen, the beginning was admittedly a bit slow in the beginning and the narrator was a bit dull at times, more so in the beginning.
Over all I was drawn into the world and am looking forward to the next book he writes.
This book is a great insight into both the heroes and villains of the story, it makes me want to write my own campaign world for my D&D games.

I definitely recommend this book to any table top gamers above all, but this book is great from a fantasy standpoint as well.

Penta Ka Wa

Good book with the perfect amount of adventure. The narrator brought the book to life. His voice had expression and brought individual life to each character.

Better than I expected

Another vampire book. Set in the past. Lots of peasants get munched on.

But then... it takes a turn. Our vampire is kind. He’s a war hero. It is a better “lord” to his people than others. Magic is real, and he learns it.

This is an involved tale that reads more like historical fiction than fantasy in many ways. It tells of good morals and good deeds.

We mourn our vampires prior life even as we cheer for him is his struggle to live amongst some pretty evil people.

Lots of clever stuff in this book.

"Epic High Fantasy Adventure of Vampires, Wizards, Dwarves and Elves." I had doubts on this one.
Penta is the vampire and the main character. A few more doubts.
Based on a long-running tabletop campaign. Oh, might be interesting.

So, Penta wants to do well in a fantasy world. The main plot is Ambition. There's no obvious looming threat over the world. I like ambition as a motivation. Along the way, Penta meets a wide variety of different characters of varying degrees of morality, intelligence and power. As a vampire, he follows a code where he mostly kills bad people.

Penta's plans and methods for gaining power are often quite clever. He also hides his power, allowing him to be a well accepted member of society. However, he knows he's not the most powerful in this fantasy world, so he needs to be subtle. But he may not be the most clever in this little part of the world.

Highly recommended. This is a fantastic listen.
