Publisher's summary

Three complete full length novels in one well-priced package!

Twisted by black magic and driven by soul-crushing loss, Lowin Fenly, a young scribe turned knight, struggles to hold on to his humanity as he battles to rescue that which he values most in the world. Along the way he will be forced to make friends of his enemies and enemies of his friends. He will grow from a boy no one has heard of into a man destined to leave the land forever changed, but how will he be remembered? Will he be Sir Fenly, hero of the people, or will he be Lowin the Dread, a monster to terrify children?

The Hungering Saga is a sweeping story that begins in familiar fantasy territory and quickly twists many of the genre staples back upon themselves.

Don't Be Put Off by the Reader

Would you listen to The Hungering Saga Complete again? Why?

Yes, because I love this book.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Paul J McSorley?

Honest;y, probably not.. He seemed too chipper for me.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, its too long. I mean three books is a lot of time..

Any additional comments?

I loved reading this book on Kindle, but the voice and inflection of the reader was not what I expected.

Sad but wonderful

I loved this story, though what took away from it was the narrator - I could not get comfortable with the way he read, breathless and like he was late for something. On the positive note though, he kept true to his voices so you could distinguish them.

The plot was easy enough to get hold of, and the end was no surprice but that is usually how things are with me, I find that the way I get to the end is the most interresting thing, not the conclusion of the story. I loved that I got all three books at once am soo sick of waiting for the next book in a series. The main character was as expected though I lacked information about his past, I would have liked to know what he was like before he became a Knight. We have no reference points to the character of the main person so could not know if he had changed a lot or not. Except for these little things I loved the book and the story, highly reccomended if you like this kind of book.

Great Trilogy - great storytelling

Would you consider the audio edition of The Hungering Saga Complete to be better than the print version?

It is a tough choice, but the audio version is more immersive in the way that McSorley draws you in. With the way the Heath Pfaff wrote the story, it is made for audio.

What other book might you compare The Hungering Saga Complete to and why?

Closest comparison for me is Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series. Both have Protagonists that must wrestle with maintaining their humanity with new found strengths. The Hungering saga has a rich detailed world that defies preconceived notions. The way that Lowin Fenly grows and discovers the world allows the reader to see through his enhanced eyes.

Have you listened to any of Paul J McSorley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This my first time listening to Paul McSorley

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

During the third book "The Snow Song" where Lowin accepts that the Fell Beast is a part of him and that the faults and changes of his life do not diminish his humanity, but rather by embracing all of himself: faults, shame, strength, all of it, makes him whole, and better than he ever was before.

Any additional comments?

Phenomenal story. This is my most recommended book, as it does not follow predictable stories lines. It takes the reader all the way in, and you get a wonderful ride through this world.

book review

it was a good storyline and a good book but way to wordy. it could have ended the series with two books instead of 3 if they just stopped over describing everything and running and on but if you can get over that part it really is a good storyline.

Story was OK, but...

The narrator was not good. The voices would start out distinct., and then drift back to his normal voice. Pauses in weird places.
While story was OK and had good ideas, it needs a lot of refocusing and editing. It seemed like every chapter was it's own story because of how much he repeated himself.

very good books

It was a good series, had a little more sexual action then I prefer, but past that, if your an adult and enjoy a good Sci-Fi/Fantasy novel, you'll like this. Not for those under 18.

Slow to Warm, but Great Read

Starts out slow but compels the reader/listener to keep going. The narrator grew on me as the book progressed. Characters were easily to connect to emotionally as well, nice escape while on the road.

Not recommended.

Cheesy and predictable
The story has some merit but not worth the price of the book. I listened to the entire book and would not recommend the series. The rating should have given me some warning. Overall I would say this is just a cliché Fantasy story.
