Not mind blowing but entertaining

The story was good but very predictable. I was hoping to be more surprised by where the story went.

Not a 30 Days of Night rehash.

reading the summary, I was afraid that this was going to be 30 Days of Night retold. It isn't. It is a lovely iteration of that formula that manages to stand separate from 30. The overlapping narratives, understanding of mob mentality, and parallels to real world persecutions are perfectly done. it sets up a sequel and I cannot wait for more.

Great story

Great story, Keeps you on the edge of your seat, first time with this author and will do more. Lorelei King always wonderful.

The same but different

Hope this is a start to a small series. Going in thought it was going to be like all the other Alaska vampire books. In some way it is but at the same time different.

Has the author even been to Alaska?

I live a bit south from where this book is set in- I don’t think the author even visited here. Other than that, story was interesting.

hidden gem

reminded me of stephen king with its cast of small town characters and personalities. this is definitely a hidden gem — don’t let the generic title fool you. this is a blast! tons of wit, excellent arcs and a plot twist i didn’t see coming! i think fans of stephen king (or joe hill) and grady hendrix would like this.

outstanding

this is an incredible story that keeps you in suspense the entire time! wonderful twists and turns and I highly recommend it!

Interesting setting

Overall, this was a very interesting set up and setting for the story but towards the end, I got a little lost with all of the pieces of the puzzle that were at play. fantastic audio performance no issues there

I was actually surprised by the ending!

I love this author’s other works and was not let down by this story. It’s definitely not your average vampire thriller. I usually can guess how murder mysteries are going to end but was pleasantly surprised by this one.

exceeded expectations!!

This was brilliantly written, a beautiful marriage of police procedural & horror/vampire lore…LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I think this might be the start of a new series (fingers crossed) following Barbara Atkins investigating vampire crimes/deaths.
