Publisher's summary
The revolutionary New York Times best seller about powerful lifestyle changes that can fight and prevent cancer - an integrative approach based on the latest research.
An international phenomenon, Anticancer has been a long-running best seller in the US since Viking first published it in fall 2008. Now, this updated edition draws on the most recent clinical studies and offers more tips on how people living with cancer can fight it and how healthy people can prevent it. The new edition of Anticancer includes:
- More benefits of anticancer foods, including new alternatives to sugar and cautions about some that are now on the market
- New information about how vitamin D strengthens the immune system
- Warnings about common food contaminants that have recently been proven to contribute to cancer progression
- A new chapter on mind-body approaches to stress reduction, with recent studies that show how our reactions to stress can interfere with natural defenses and how friendships can support healing in ways never before understood
- A groundbreaking study showing that lifestyle modification, as originally proposed in Anticancer, reduces mortality for breast cancer by an astounding 68 percent after completion of treatment
- New supporting evidence for the entire Anticancer program
Critic reviews
“A common-sense blueprint for healthy living.” (Chicago Tribune)
“Fills an important gap in our knowledge of how patients can contribute to their own care by supplementing conventional medical treatment. I recommend this book to anyone interested in preventive medicine and integrated, complementary approaches to patient care.” (John Mendelsohn, MD, president, MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas)
“Resonating with cancer support communities...and recommended nationwide on internet message boards.” (Los Angeles Times)

Without Vitamin K2, the body cannot direct calcium to the bones where it's needed; instead, the calcium resides in soft tissue, like the arteries, leading to a combination of osteoporosis and atherosclerosis, or the dreaded "calcium paradox".

Story
When it comes to cancer, conventional doctors are trained to treat their patients exclusively with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. These methods are grueling on the whole body - and they don't treat beyond the tumor or the cancer itself. The focus is on the disease, not the whole person - and because of this, the outcomes in conventional medicine can be bleak. But it doesn't have to be this way. Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy has developed a whole-person approach to treating cancer.

Story
One out of three women alive today, and one out of two men, will face a cancer diagnosis, according to the World Health Organization. Ty Bollinger takes this personally: in the course of a decade, he says, "I lost my entire family to cancer. I don't believe I had to lose them." The Truth about Cancer has been written for one simple reason: to share the knowledge we need to protect ourselves, treat ourselves, and in some cases save our lives or the lives of those we love.

Story
In the year 2021, amidst worldwide fear, chaos, riots, and economic shutdowns resulting from the COVID-19 global pandemic, I was diagnosed with cancer. My scans were not the scans of a person who lives, the medical specialists said, and because of the medical policies put in place to stop the spread of COVID, much of my treatment was administered without the presence of my family or loved ones. Everything in my life had taken a drastic U-turn.

The controversial Emanuel Revici, M.D., made the bones grow back in cancer patients, and restored health to AIDS patients as well as drug addicts and alcoholics. His medicines lifted debilitating migraines in as little as three minutes. Revici's reward? He was attacked and ostracized by the best. JAMA published false reports about his work. The American Cancer Society blasted him time and again. Meanwhile, word of mouth brought new patients to see him for decades.

Great effort to empower cancer patients and those who would avoid cancer!
Very comprehensive review and documentation of the knowledge base in this important holistic field. The data is limited but compelling and perhaps a common sense approach is the most appealing. I am a cancer physician with an established interest in natural healing methods yet I still learned new pearls from this book. Moreover, almost all of it is truly”timeless” and cannot go “out of date”.

Must read
Excellent book with multi-modal and faceted way of living to hopefully preserve a healthy life; avoid and fight against disease, not just cancer. It’s a very informative and inspiring book. I’ve recommended to so many friends and healthcare colleagues. It’s stresses the importance of going beyond just medicinal treatments, but incorporating much more, such as diet, mental health, exercise, yoga & meditation. Thank you for such a wonderful book!
