Most people, especially highly ambitious people, are unhappy because of how they measure their progress. We all have an "ideal", a moving target that is always out of reach. When we measure ourselves against that ideal, we're in "the gap". However, when we measure ourselves against our previous selves, we're in "the gain".
That is where the gap and the gain concept comes in. It was developed by legendary entrepreneur coach Dan Sullivan and is based on his work with tens of thousands of successful entrepreneurs. When Dan's coaching clients periodically take stock of all that they've accomplished - both personally and professionally - they are often shocked at how much they have actually achieved. They weren't able to appreciate their progress because no matter how much they were getting done, they were usually measuring themselves against their ideals or goals.

Good ideas but need to edit
The book itself had great insight but they really need to edit out all of the “umm”, “uh”, and “you know”! In their conversation they must’ve said “you know” hundreds of times! Very distracting! Especially for someone that has a podcast - I can’t imagine ever listening to it just because of the annoying fillers.

Recharge your mental batteries daily
Admittedly, almost everything I read is on growth, mindset, and improving. It recharges my batteries. I love the advice on tangible techniques that focus you to visualize today's wins and the quick written note identifying your 3 more wins tomorrow. Also, life’s many setbacks aren’t what they appear in the moment, they are profound learning opportunities that shape you. Simplicity and desire enable habits that step you to where you want to be. My thoughts-You recharge your mobile phone every night so why not recharge your mental batteries? I wasn’t done with the book before I started recommending it.

Probably the best book I’ve ever read!
This book should be read by everyone especially our children. These are things they don’t teach in school but these are life lessons that can literally change your life. Oh, I needed this!
Went to a health coaching retreat with my wife and this one of two books we were supposed to read before we got there...of course I didn't read it. Anyway, I started listening to it during my morning beach runs while there and this book is AMAZING. I used the bookmark button heavily and just finished going through those and putting notes in my phone. Short, to the point, useful book!
