While war rages in Thameland, other battles begin.

With his first year complete, Alex Roth has made a discovery that could change his kingdom forever.

As the university prepares for an expedition to Thameland, Alex makes himself ready by growing stronger, taking summer courses on magic and spending time with his new friends and family.

But conspiracy brews in Generasi. Demonic attacks target the expedition, and as the city prepares for its annual Games of Roal, Alex must make sure that his own secrets don’t come back to bite him.

At least he has family and a new relationship to calm his nerves.

Until an unexpected visit throws his whole summer into disarray.

There is no rest for the wicked. Or foolish.

In the third book of the best-selling series, continue your fantastical journey into a coming-of-age magic-academy fantasy with a weak-to-strong progression into power, a setting inspired by D&D, detailed world-building, and magical science, action, comedy, slice-of-life, and GameLit elements.

I saw that someone left a review just hours after it released and was complaining about how it doesn’t pick up from the last book until the last chapter. I’m not done with it, and that might very well be true, but it’s not story without progression. It’s not like a filler episode in anime. The character still progresses and learns and that’s all I can ask for. I’m really enjoying these books so far.

I love these books

Don't believe the first review posted; the intro may not focus on the characters we already know, but the rest of it seems to.

A great third entry

Love the story and character progression.

A lot of people were complaining about all the “filler” aspects of the book i I think the author did a great job. If he left out all that “filler” everyone would be complaining in the next book that the characters just suddenly had all these abilities and say “where did they come from?” Relax people enjoy the story and the development or you can just wait till the very last book of the series and you’ll know how it all ends than lol. Stop putting the author down for doing something very few people can and let him write his story.

Get job on narration (Travis Baldree) I appreciate the consistency of your character voices and the pace of your narrative!

Loved it!!

I'm surprised by the negative reviews I've seen. I've enjoyed this series and this is just more of the same. It's a fun, light listen with adventure and magical combat. Without giving away any spoilers, there are important plot points that do happen in this book. The main character continues to be clever, finding ways to contribute and fight while having the mark, and his friends continue to be bad-asses in various ways.

A Fun Story Continues

I’ve listened to a bunch of litrpg and this is one of my favorites, the writing is excellent and the ideas are fresh. I have a strong feeling the author knows D&D well but he spins it in such a way that it’s not overly apparent. The pacing is my only negative point. There are a lot of slice of life sections and I did press fast forward a few times basically understanding the whole section before it was read by Travis. Can’t wait for the next book!

Excellent Series
